Gateway intermittent shutdown

Gateway MD2614 intermittently shuts down. The screen goes blank/white and the only way to get going again is to push the power button to shut it down and then hit the power button again to restart it. I put in a music CD to see if it was a display problem and when it goes to a blank screen the music also stopped so don't think its a display problem. Took out the fan and cleaned it out, cleaned out the heat sink, and cleaned off the old thermal paste and applied new thermal paste thinking it may be an over heating problem. After doing all this it still shuts down. Downloaded a temp monitor and the temps are good. Between 65c and 80c when running. So don't think its an over heating problem. Tried to calibrate the battery using the bios recalibrate and it fully charged the battery then failed due to over voltage. Tried operating the notebook with the battery out and still had intermittent shutdown. Could the power cord be bad? or do you have any other ideas?

Get some canned air and blow out all the dust you can.
Get a laptop cooler to take heat away from the bottom of the laptop.
Take it to a repair shop

I have a gateway nv79 that intermittently shuts down. I cleaned the fans and vents anf purchased a laptop cooler and it still shuts down. It does not shutdown when in safe mode. Any ideas on what may

download and install speedfan, you will be able to check your CPU temp. if it's not too hot, then it might be a power issue. Have you tried removing the battery for 30 mins, then trying it ?

I have a slim 1500 that goes into and stays into stand-by

Check to make sure there is no short in the speaker wires. It is more than likely intermittent part or bad solder joints are responsible for the shutdown.

Turn on notebook (A200 2 years old). Runs fine for about 10 minutes then screen goes blank. if you plug in an external monitor both screens work. This is not an intermittent problem.

Have you check screen power down could be it is setup to shut down as you say after 10 mins. Access power through control panel, change settings ie to 30 mins

It actually sounds like the batteries are going dead if the 24v from the furnace are not providing the power to the thermostat.

Intermitant blank screen on sharp PC-Um10

The thing to do is analyze IF the problem is the machine is going to sleep OR just the monitor portion.

AS A TEST connect an external monitor and see if it winks out as well.

IF IT doesn't then either the backlight power supply is failing OR the monitor power saving setting is corrupt.

ALSO verify that the power cord is not intermittently disconnecting (common problem) as this can cause the screen to be shut down on some setups.

It might be a problem with the computer. I would advise going back to where you bought it and returning it to either get a new one or a different one. Glad I Helped!

TV goes off intermittently

sounds like an intermittent shut down which is heat related. some part , maybe one stuck on a heatsink is warming up and running too much current triggering shutdown.
to find it you can tell what is shutting down with a voltmeter, or you can heat suspected parts with a blow dryer to speed the shutdown .. or freeze spray to see if it goes beyond your shutdown time.

SMT 5600 does not load OS, screen goes white and then blank.

Screen sound bad, or intermittent connection inside. You can find disassembly instructions on the net. Search with phone model and disassemble. Remove and reattach all cables in case one is lose or contact dirty.
