Good antenna, good radio, good match, barefoot, should transmit about 10 miles providing there isn't to much ground noise.

Talk to others not using the motorola talkabout

Your signal might be bouncing of a building or tall structure but theirs is not, you might also be too far away, try coming in closer until you can both hold a conversation, another option is if your radio is transmitting on high and theirs is transmitting in low.

How to hack into a motorola mr350r radio and change the frequencies

Hi, Jeremy,

Not Advisable, apart from being illegal, you can cause irripairable damage to your radio.

These radios were designed to operate on specific frequencies only.

My advice....Don't Do It!!!

Hope that answers your query.

Cheers,
Peter

Netgear WGR614 Wireless Router what do i need to

Theoretical covrage is 600 feet ... 300 on each side of the antenna ... provided there are no walls, no trees, no cars etc. between you and the antenna. If you want to go further, you will have to get a 'bridge' and commercial grade repeaters/antennas which may transmit as far as 1000 feet or you may want to get high power equipment that will transmit further ...

How big are your 'blocks'? Trees? Buildings? EMI in the area?

They work close up but not far away

Double check the frequency you have the radios set to, and be certain they are exact. Sometimes when you are on a near frequency you will have range problems. Also, hold the radio upright with the antenna pointed straight up when transmitting. Face the direction you are trying to transmit. Height and placement of the antenna determines range. Handhelds can generally talk as far as they can see. Obstacles between you and the other radio can reduce range, including the body fluid of the person wearing the radio. And lastly, be certain you are using good batteries for best performance.

Best regards.

How can I tx on 81.575mhz. I have a bespoke external antenna for this frequency

What brand and model radio? Most ham radios cannot transmit on this frequency, as it is far outside the amateur bands. Even modified radios would rarely be capable of transmitting on the frequency referenced.

What are some of the possible problems with transmitting a call tone?

As far as the functionality of the radio, there would be no problem with transmitting a call tone. Two things to consider would be the hesitation you would need to have before talking, when you press the PTT and await the call tone to happen on the other unit(s). And the sound factor on the other end. Some environments are not conducive to having a radio ring or beep before each message.

Do you have an SWR meter? Are you sure that the connector that screws onto the radio is soldered properly? If the ground is touching the center wire then it will hear but not transmit very far.

Lost channels in a galaxy 66v cb radio

as far as the transmit frequency changing while you have the mic keyed this is normal, the transmit frequency is a little different than the receive, as far as the lost channels go you need to check the galaxy website and check to see if thier is any fixes listed. if none is listed then you can send the tech's a e-mail and tell them your problem and they will advise you on what to do.
