Why doesn`t the height adjustment wheel on my windsor vacuum go up?

There are (4) main components that affect the height adjustment on your vacuum. They are: Brush roller, Servo Motor, Control board, and Sensor pulley. You have eliminated two of the possibilities already. I would ask you if either of the height adjustment lights on the PC board come on, indicating that the board is attempting to raise or lower the vacuum. I would also have you inspect the Sensor Pulley. That is the yellow pulley that both belts connect to. Do the two sections of the Sensor turn easily without resistance? Do they spring back when released? Are the magnets (small black round magnets on the inside of the Sensor wheels) still in place? That Sensor pulley system tells the PC board whether or not the vacuum needs more or less resistance (to raise or lower the servo motor). Because the Sensor Pulley is completely mechanical (no electrical components); If this Sensor pulley is completely functional, your problem is likely the PC board. I have included some links to the PC board and Sensor pulley for your convenience. Hopefully this helps. 5465 Red Ring Windsor Sensor 86145060 5740 ER Computer Controller Windsor Sensor SR XP 86140160

Windsor sensor vacuum lights flashing then motor shuts off

I've worked on these a lot. What I think you're explaining is the bypass flow switch which is a common failure. It's located in the base inside the auction side of motor housing...

Servicing windsor sensor xp15

You need to replace your beater bar more than likely, if the light stays on all the time. If it is flashing there is usually something jamming the brush roller from turning properly.

My windsor sensor 12 inch vacuum is to hard to push. I bought a new one and its doing the same thing. My vacuum repair man says he cant fix the problem. My shoulders are sore from working so hard. Help

It\'s possibly the type of carpet you\'re using it on. The sensors use the brush speed and the amount of air flow to determine carpet height. Some berber, and tweeds make these things horrible to push. We sell sebo, who make the windsor and we\'ve had the same issue on random carpeting. We end up selling the G- Series units in these situations because they adjust manually so not to suck themselves tight to the floor. Sebo/Windsor make amazing products but there\'s just no helping this, it happens sometimes.

No Power to Windsor Sensor XP12

The Windsor Sensor vacs all have a removable handle.

The handle is inserted into a "socket" which has contacts to complete the electrical circuit.

The handle is held in place by a gray plastic lever.

If the lever is not pressed down completely, the handle is able to slide within the socket during regular use.

If the handle slides out far enough, the electrical connection within will be disconnected and the vac will have no power.

Simply lift the lever, pull up to remove the handle, and re-insert the handle fully, then press down firmly on the lever to lock the handle securely in place.

This is the first step to solve your problem and hopefully this is all that need to be done.

If this does not work, please repost here and I will help you all I can.

Note: I am a big fan of the Windsor Sensor vacs and find them to be easy to work on and a great vac all around!

I have windsor s12 vaccum this one have brush up light on

The windsor Sensor brush indicator light will come on when:

  • Something stuck in the brushroller
  • Brushroller is worn and needs replacement
  • height is wrong (indicates a problem with height adjustment)
  • a bad circut board/sensor
more than likely your brushroller just needs to be replaced, very common.

No power when plugged in

If there is no power to the Windsor model ensure that the handle has been locked down properly - there is a flip up lock which naturally goes down so that the electric element in the handle meets with  the male connector set into the lock at the bottom.
