Question about Sony Televison & Video

Record from VCR

I am looking to purchase a Sony RDRHXD 790 120GB PVR. Please tell me if I would be able to connect to up to and record and make copies from my existing VCR, so that I can build a library of DVDs and avoid further tape derioration of the programmes and films that I have and avoid the potential of the VCR breaking down in the future and being obsolete and un-repairable. I have a Bravia TV and understand that the HXD 790 is Bravia compatable.

Many thanks for any comments

I viewed an instruction manual from the Sony website and this gave me sufficient informtion to indicate that the hook up facility is possible. Hence I should be able to carry out the task. I have therefore purchased a unit and I will find out after it arrives!

Can you still hook up a DVD & VCR Recorder through Rogers PVR and record to disc anything you have on the PVR memory to a disc to have a hard copy to keep and free up space on PVR memory????

I think you will have difficulties with DVD or Video tapes that have imbedded copy right signas l if you feed the video cable from old device into PVR s input source. You may find the PVR will refuse to record due to copyright . Does the PVR have a USB port you may be able to plug in a 20 Terabytes USB portable drive into it . I am not familiar with the rogers PVR but check its manual to see if it can.
you may be able to convert the DVD or Video Tape into an MPEG -2 or MPEG -4 format and read it on the PVR using a computer.
Copyright law may allow you to convert the type of media (you must own the rights to use original copy) to another format of media (PVR) for your use only. Check if copyright in your country allows this in Australia it is covered under https://www.comlaw.gov.au/Details/C2004C01235

HOW DO I RECORD WITH A SONY SLV-N77 MANUAL DOES NOT HAVE ANY DIRECTIONS

Looks like a great brand with good features for the price.
  1. Connect Video & Audio Cables to a video signal source
  2. Connect Power Cable
  3. Turn on VCR.
  4. Insert a blank tape in the VCR.
  5. Note - A Broken Tab on the back of tape will prevent recording. This is called Write Protection.
  6. Cover the tab hole if you want to record over old video.
  7. Press RECORD on the VCR remote control.
  8. After a minute, press Stop, then PLAY to see recording.
  9. Cheers

Sony DAV-DZ560 Can I use a record deck and put it through the surround sound to play vinyl's

Shouldn't be a problem as long as you get a record player with a built-in preamp. Old record players did not have a preamp, and will not output a signal at a high enough level to be used through the sony system.

Dstv to dvd recorder connection

  1. Grab your A/V composite wires and insert them into the Audio/Video OUTPUTS on the back of the satellite receiver. These are color-coded connections--red to red, white to white and yellow to yellow. The red and white connections are your audio feeds and the yellow is for your video.
  2. Look on the backside of your DVD/VCR dual recorder. You will see similar connections. Connect the other end of the composite wires to the Audio/Video INPUTS on the DVD/VCR dual recorder.
  3. With a second set of A/V composite wires, connect one end to the DVD/VCR dual recorder's A/V OUTPUT and the other end to the television's A/V INPUT. Again, be sure to follow the color code. Also, if your television has more than one available input, be sure to know to which one you made the connections (A/V 1, A/V 2, etc.).

Vcr recorda blank when digital tv is put on standby.

this is because you are recording a direct connection (what is on the screen is recorded) that is an option with some equipment.. unfortunately this means if there is nothing on the screen well you get nothing..

You need to record from the machines own built in tuner dont use direct record.. a vcr/pvr/dvdr after all remember is like a tv without a screen that can record it has its own channels to do this
