Question about Hasbro Fur Real Friends Smores Pony

Open Question

Head won't turn on baby butterscotch

The head is stuck to the right and when I touch the spots on her that are supposed to make her respond and move her head, nothing happens. She opens her mouth and makes noises but doesn't respond with moving her head.

SOURCE: Smores pony head stuck toward the left

Also check the screw that had the nylon cord attached to it. It could be stuck causing the head not to turn.

SOURCE: Furreal pony, Butterscotch, Head floppy/leans left

There is a smaller "u" shaped spring in the middle of the neck mechanism that I found one side was snapped off. Looks normal, but it's broken. I made one out of a coat hanger for temporary purposes and it works like new! I will order one from Hasbro. Hope this helps!

SOURCE: Furreal Pony neighs like a broken record

I had the exact same problem, and all I did was replace the batteries. It worked right again! I just knew the kids had broken the neck of it. It sort of slings to the left and neighs over and over again. BATTERY ISSUE :) The instruction manual should tell the consumer this. Hope this helps!

SOURCE: Hasbro S'mores tail broken off, makes clicking

Not sure about the clicking but her is how to repair the tail. Had the same problem and the fix is easy. Hopefully, the tail snapped off at the base of the plastic plate on the tail. If so, go to a hardware store and buy 1 ft. of CLEAR plastic tubing with 3/16" inner diameter and 5/16" outer. Cut off a piece about 1 1/2". Now, look at the base of the tail and you should see a small screw that holds in what remains of the stub that broke. Unscrew the screw and remove what is left of the stub. KEEP THE SCREW. Now drill a small hole thru the plastic tube about 1/8" from the end. This will later be inserted into the tail and the screw will go through the holes. Next, take a hair dryer and heat the undrilled end of the tube to soften it and push it on to what is left of the broken stub inside the pony. It will be a tight fit which is what you want. You will probably need to twist the tube gently while applying firm pressure on it to make it slide over the stub. The end of the tube with the holes should be about even with the outside top of the white plastic hole and the tube holes should be level, looking at it from side to side. This makes the alignment of the screw hole to the tail correct. Now slide the tail over the end of the tube and insert the screw. I just did it today and it works good as new! If the tail is too far away from the body of the pony, carefully twist and remove the tube and shorten it. Since you bought a 1 ft. tube, you can have several trys to get it right if you cut it too short! Total cost for the tube was 21 cents. Good luck! Kip V. Tryon, NC

There is a small lock in the chasis of the head. Move the head to right you can see a plastic on the head moving path. push it to backwards. Now you can move the head to left.

Butterscotch pony head not working

First, calling poor Grace at Hasbro will provide fruitless. Hasbro does not make any parts for the full size FurReal Ponies, they have nothing in stock and cannot help you. I, however, can. I am going to post a link to a distressing site that turns the normal FurReal Pony into a fire breathing demon. However, in the process, you can see the diagram of the skeleton of the pony and head. You can search for other links but this is pretty comprehensive. Just don't open when kids are around.

How do I reassemble the head of the FurReal Pony?

The Pony Care Guide refers to an "Assembly Video" on the FurRealFriends.com site. I couldn't find it and even went through a gazillion videos on YouTube. Contact Hasbro directly through this link to see if they can send you a link to the Assembly Video:

My daughter's Butterscotch Pony is in great shape, except for a loud gear-grinding noise that we have traced (and watched with a flashlight) that appears to come from a large white plastic gear that is...

Yes, that is the fault in question: that plastic cog was supposed to move the head and it's making that noise because it's slipping, because the gear shaft is not properly aligned with the motor - it's how the head mechanism was designed: badly and with low quality parts.
No, this is not automatically fixed by Hasbro with a head replacement - this happens only when the cog breaks due to the abnormal stress that's put on it, not your case. All you can do is to slightly grease the mechanism and refit the head as best as you can.

My butterscotch pony's head doesn't look to its right, only left, won't go into ride mode, and I pressed the button on the zipper to release it so I could take off the head cover but it won't release.

Best wishes.
