Question about Home & Lifestyle Software

2 Answers

Vista Recently I purchased an HP laptop with vista but the office 2007trial version was installed in it instead of full version. Now after entering the key for initiation of office 2007, it shows that the software will expire after 60 days. My queries are :- 1. Do i need to purchase this software or the HP dealer should provide it to me free of cost. 2. Can office 2002 work instead of office 2007 in vista.

Re: vista

1. Yes, you need to buy a licence key from Microsoft

2. If you uninstall 2007, you can then install 2002. You might have problems with some apps like Outlook.

Re: vista

If you need to purchase the 2007 version and just enter the registration key on the CD case, you will not have to do anything with the CD itself.
Ask HP "If I buy this computer does Office 2007 come with a trial version, or full version?" Then you have a salesman's word on the subject. If he says it does not, then you can ask for confirmation with a supervisor. However if it actually is supposed to be the full version then you have a valid complaint.

I believe you CAN use your old Office 2002 (call MS and or HP to confirm) but you will have to uninstall the 2007 version first.

I have Spiritual Expressions for Windows 98 but my laptop has Windows Vista. How can I make the program work on Vista?

You may be able to get it to work by installing it in compatability mode. Right click on the install file and choose windows 98 on the compatability tab.
You could also use a virtual machine, you could load a copy of windows 98 and then use your program in the VM.
There are free Virtual machine programs, but you would need a valid copy of win 98

Microsoft Office Home & Student 2007 product key

It is quite common to find this version of office as a pre-loaded software bundle with a 60 day trial period. The message box asking for the product key should have a link to purchase one. That's the solution. No one here can provide a pirated key for you.

Right-Click on the setup/install file and chose "Troubleshoot Compatibility"
This will attempt to run the setup/install in a lesser Windows version mode. (As well as the program it's self.

P!3DHome has stopped working

I encountered the same problem. In my case, the Punch! Landscape file saved into a folder on my C: drive called Program Files (x86). I dragged the entire folder for Punch! Landscape from the Program Files (x86) folder into the Program Files folder. I've had this same problem with games I've downloaded from MSN in the past, and this fix has always worked.

I would like to buy aHP Pavilion Slimline s5117c Desktop PC but i would like to downgrade to xp profesional is that possible?

It comes with Vista I think but of course you can install XP iff you have the disk. It would also be likely that HP will load XP for you if you request it as it is cheaper than Vista or windows. I have provided the link for the hp below but why not contact HP and ask if they will toss in a copy of xp instead of the upgrade to Windows 7. (by the way Windoes 7 is really a great system. I have installed it on my desktop and Laptop)

Preinstalled Office home and Student 2007 backup copy

When you purchased your computer, the vendor-supplied "System Restore" set of CD-ROMs were used to install both the Windows operating system and a selected set of additional software, which includes that version of Microsoft Office. So, those disks are your backup.

Thus, taking a different set of Microsoft Office CD-ROMs, such as one purchased from a retail outlet, and trying to use the listed product-key with that "retail" set of CD-ROM disks is *NOT* allowed by Microsoft, as you have discovered.

MS Office Home/Student 2007 Product Key

Check if you have paid for a full version or trial version of the software. Sometimes, with a new laptop, you only get the trial version, which means you have to buy the software if you want to continue using the product.

Check with the company that sold you the laptop.

It may not work at all on Vista, many programs and hardware do not. (scanners and printers etc. -- no new drivers)
Is there any way to update the program?
Go to the company website, check for Vista compatibility.
You may have to purchase an updated program.
