    Kenmore /coldspot #106-52554100.  2002 model

How do I check the fill tube to make sure it isn't frozen?   I manually filled the ice maker to see if was working at all.  It did make ice cubes and dumped them into the ice container. The problem seems to be with the filling of the ice maker.  Thanks for your help! Debra

Fridgetech _ you are awesome! We finally rec'd the sensor and install today. The fill tube was frozen so we defrosted it. We've got ice cubes again! Thank you for your help!

First give me the entire model # on the sticker from the inside of the fridge and I can definitely help you with this.  Let's solve it before you rate it.

The fill tube is the black tube on the right side of the ice maker.  It is made of rubber so you can sqeeze it to make sure it isn't frozen.  You can take the line at the back (middle, top) that leads to the ice maker and run hot water down it to make sure is is clear.  Also, need to check the optics.  This is the red flashing light inside the freezer.  Make sure it is switched to on.  Close the spring loaded door on the left and make sure not to block the beam.  The red light should go to solid red, no blinking.  If it doesn't then the optics are bad (part # 4389102).  Consists of two boards, one behind each panel.  Check these things first then let me know what you find.  If all check ok then we have narrowed it down to the water valve or the icemaker module and ice maker thermostat.

My husband replaced our water filter for our ice maker; so at first we were getting black ice cubes and now we are getting regular ice cubes but the process is so slow it will take forever to fill tray.

I would suggest cleaning the coils below the refrig ( behind the kick plate in front ) or , if clean , turn up the freezer temp slightly to make the ice maker slightly colder .

Frigidaire Model # GLRS267dzw2 ice maker isn't filling up with water too make ice.

As every technician knows , a water and ice dispensor refrig , has a dual water inlet valve . Just because the water dispensor works , does not mean the coil for the ice maker is working . Pour about 2/3 cup of water into the ice maker . If it dumps the frozen cubes , but does not refil with water , check the fill tube inside the freezer , from the wall to the fill cup on the ice maker , to see if it is frozen . If so , replace the dual water inlet valve , due to seeping . This is not closing completely , and letting drips thru , which freeze inside the tube . If the tube is not frozen , then the water inlet valve is bad , not letting water thru to the ice maker .
If the ice maker does not dump the frozen cubes , then the ice maker needs to be replaced . Also check the coils under the refrig , to be sure they are clean of dust , lint , etc , as this will raise the temp above 5 degrees , which is the operating temp , for an icemaker .

The ice maker on my refrigerator has stopped making ice. Water is still flowing but the tray doesn't fill and the whole mechanism seems not to function.

Pour about 2/3 cup of water into the ice maker . If the ice maker dumps the frozen cubes , but doesn't refill with water , you should replace the water inlet valve , behind the refrig , where the wall water line connects to . If the Ice maker does not eject the frozen cubes , replace the ice maker .
Also , check the ice maker fill tube , from the back wall inside the freezer , to the ice maker fill cup , to see if it's frozen . If so , you will need to remove it , and clean the ice out . This would be caused by a " seeping " bad water valve also .
Check the coils under the refrig , to make sure they are clean of dust , lint , pet hair , etc , as this will raise the freezer temp above 5 degrees , which is the temperature which the ice maker needs to operate properly .

GE refrig/freezer dispenser makes ice, but no dispensing of water

The dispensor water line , is probably trying to freeze , inside the door . raise the freezer control slightly warmer , to keep this from happening . May take 2 or 3 raisings to find the proper temp . Also , you can order a dispensor heat kit , pt # WR49X10173 , which comes with installation instructions .

Ice maker doesn't work

Pour about 2/3 cup of water into the ice maker . If it freezes and dumps the cubes , but doesn't fill with water , replace the water inlet valve ( the piece that the wall water line connects to on the fridge ) . Also check to be sure that the fill tube from the back of the freezer to the ice maker , isn't blocked with ice , as this is caused by a seeping bad water valve . If the ice maker doesn't dump the cubes , after freezing , then replace the ice maker . Also check to make sure the coils under the front of the refrig , are clean of dust , lint , pet hair , etc.

Ice maKer is not getting water but the water side works.

Your refrig water valve , has 2 coils on one valve . One is for the water dispensor , and one is for the ice maker . So even if you get water thru the dispensor , the other coil ( for the ice maker ) could be bad . The fill tube from inside the freezer to the ice maker , could be frozen solid , keeping the water from entering the ice maker . This frozen tube , would be caused be the water valve " seeping " , which means , it isn't closing completely , and drips freezing inside the tube . indicating a bad water valve . Pour about 2/3 cup of water into the ice maker . If it dumps , but doesn't refill with water , replace the water valve but also check this tube . If the ice maker does not dump the frozen cubes , replace the ice maker , but also check the coils under the refrig , for dust , lint , etc , needing to be cleaned off . The ice maker needs to be 5 degrees to operate , and dirty coils can keep the freezer at 6 degrees or above .

I have a Whirlpool refrige. side by side and the ice maker has stopped working. The infrared light keeps blinking. I have unplugged it a couple of times as well as turned the infrared off. Any advice?

The laser , is supposed to blink . This laser , tells the icemaker to stop making ice , when the bin is full . Pour about 2/3 cup of water into the icemaker . If it doesn't dump the cubes into the bin , the icemaker is bad . Or , if there is ice in the bin , which hasn't dumped , the icemaker is bad . If the icemaker dumps the ice ( from water pour ) , then look above the fill cup , and see if the black fill tube is frozen . If so , then replace the water valve and turn the freezer temp down slightly . It will take several days for this fill line inside freezer to thaw . If icemaker dumps , and black tube NOT frozen , replace the water valve . The valve , is where the wall water line connects to on the refrig

Ice maker stopped making ice. Now water continuously drips.

Replace the water valve behind refrig , where the wall water line connects to on refrig .

Have an LG LFX25960TT refrigerator with in door ice maker. The ice maker only makes 2 to 3 ice cubes at a time. (Too slow for my family's needs.) It appears like it doesn't get enough time to fill. Is...

Check to make sure the water supply to the refrig is good and the inlet screen where the water line connects to the refrig is clean. You can change the amount of water fill by pressing the button on the left side of the ice maker. (indicator lights above button show setting) Selecting "Ice Plus" on front of dispenser panel increases ice production for a 24 hour period. Ice maker should produce 6 cubes per cycle, aprox.. 100 to 130 cubes in 24 hours depending on freezer compartment temp, room temp, number of door openings, etc.
