SOURCE: john deere 420 trouble starting getting gas and

The engine needs air, so be sure the air filter is clean. If it is not, replace it.

The engine needs spark. Replace the spark plug and be sure that the battery has a complete charge.

The engine needs good fuel so be sure the gas is newly purchased, not gas that has been sitting around for months.

SOURCE: have a john deere lawn tractor. Blade will not

Check both belts on deck. Check if the clutch is clicking in. If not it will most likely need a new pto switch.

SOURCE: problem with John Deere L120 tractor

Park brake switch is the most likely culprit, any other would cause the tractor to not turn over in the crank position.

How do I replace the starter motor on my John Deere 102 ride on mower

Never done a tractor but it should be straight forward. The starter on these is about the size of a pop can. There should only be two or three bolts holding it positon along with two wires and a ground. Mark which goes where. Remove the bolts and wires and pull it out. Make sure you disconnect the battery first before doing anything.

What could be causing the fuse f1 to blown when turns the switch on the john Deere 5525 tractor?

Probably......Your starter motor is jammed up or the solenoid. Oil and tap hammer the starter motor and gear to the flywheel to see if you can free it up. Otherwise disassemble the starter from the housing and see if the motor will spin when you put 12V to it

How hard is it to replace the starter on a john deere 420 lawn tractor it has an onan 20hp engine

Not hard at all, disconnect battery than remove battery cable from starter, should be just one nut.there's a smaller wire that should just unplug, than there there should just be two bolts holding the starter in place remove them and you should be able to slide the starter out.

Do you have a wiring diagram for the starter on a John Deere 285 garden tractor? The old starter was removed and no wires were labeled.

Generally starters ground through the engine, so that only leaves the positive wire. That one comes from the starting solinoid. Starting solinoid gets power from the battery. Anyway these wires are the biggest ones on the machine including the negative/ground wire from the battery.

I hope this helps.

John Deere 165 will not turn over. New battery has fuel. Engine clicks one time when I turn the key. Could this be starter or solenoid? How do I trouble shoot?

"One click" tells me it's a connection issue. Remove and wire brush the ground and battery cable connections at the battery, chassis, starter and starter solenoid.

The flywheel is only cranking slowly at start up, engine won't fire. The lead to the starter motor and the starter motor heats up, smokes a little. I have checked the battery, replaced the starter solenoid...

If your unit has OHV engine you need to check the intake and exhaust valve gap. Call your local repair shop to get numbers and check this website out. Go to smalleng.com they have a video for just what you are looking for. Good Luck...
