Unplug and remove back panel and on left side while facing back panel left top corner. It appears in print having two sheet metal screws coming through top to hold the switch in place. Looks a little tight but I don't think you will have a big problem replacing.
If you have any problems let me know, Thanks Sea Breeze

My washer stalls at the end of the wash cycle and I can hit the lid with my hand to restart it

Sounds like your lid safety switch is bad. Replace the switch. If this is a unit with a hidden lid switch, left rear, you may only need tighten your lid hinge screws.

Washing machine stops on rinse on all cycles

this could be a timer problem, or the cold water may be shut off.....if it is advancing to the rinse point but not filling, then there may be a problem with the fill valve also. You may want to check the lid switch too, just to be sure it is making contact. From what you are describing it sounds like the problem with your washer could either be the lid switch or no cold water. However there are a number of other possibilities. I would recommend checking the lid switch first. Open the lid & you should see the lid switch actuator mounted on the lid. This is the probe that pushes in on the lid switch as you close the washer lid. Next you can check the lid switch. The lid switch is hidden under the top of the washer. You will see a small opening where the plunger comes down at & activates the lid switch. You should hear the switch click as the lid is being closed. You can also use a small non-metallic probe to push in on the lid switch. If the lid switch is not responding, you will need to replace the lid switch.Next you will need to check & make sure the cold water is turned on. You may want to turn the water off & take the cold water fill hose off of the back of the washer. Use a bucket & turn the water back on to check the incoming water pressure. If the water pressure checks good & the washer is not filling for rinse, you will need to replace the water valve. If you have good cold water supply & the lid switch checks okay you will need to access the inside of the machine to make more checks. Be sure to disconnect electrical power before attempting any repairs. Please resubmit your question if you need further assistance.Good Luck

Lid not locking

Replace top lid switch possibly. It is a safety switch, if you have tried to push down lid hard and does not trigger, then lid switch might need replacing. It is a cheap price. Under 20 bucks most appliance part stores

WILL WASH BUT IT WILL NOT SPIN AND THE WATER IS SETTING IN THE MACHINE MOD - LXR5432KQ0 SER #CM3226867 TYPE 107

Check your lid switch. This is the most common cause of the problem you are experiencing. Symptoms may include, filling and stopping on the intial fill cycle, a wash tub that will not drain, and stopping right after the wash cycle and not advancing to rinse or spin cycles.

The lid switch is usually mounted under the washer top casing, on the right hand side on most top load models. It is activated by a plastic piece on the lid (called a "Lid Strike") through a small hole on the rim of the wash tub opening. In many cases the lid strike breaks off the lid, or the lid switch becomes loose and no longer makes contact. Inspect the lid to make sure the lid strike is still intact, and then inspect the mounting screws (adjacent to the small opening on the wash tub rim) and make sure they are snug. If you determine the switch to be defective, the following link explains how to replace one:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3557193-replacing_a_lid_switch

On some models, the lid switch is located under the top casing by one of the lid hinges. You will know if you if you have this type of switch, because It does not have a lid strike and the small hole on the right hand side of the wash tub will not be present. This switch is actuated (toggled) by a rod on the lid hinge. With this type of switch, if you locate it and it can be toggled by hand, you may only need to adjust the actuator by bending it slightly.

A replacement lid switch (if required) can be purchased at any of the following web sites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

The average price is about $20 - $30 if you perform the repair yourself. Prices differ between sites so shop and compare. The part number for a replacement for your washer is 3949247.

NOTE: You DO NOT need to drain the washer to replace the lid switch. Once a defective switch is replaced, the washer will drain.

If you have questions, or need additional assistance, please post back and let me know. I hope this information is helpful.

My Kenmore elite 100.24942301 Lid switch problem

You may can slightly bent the part the lid contacts so it will be depressed further thereby making the switch. If that doesn't work then you will need to replace the switch.

This issue is caused by:

- Lid open. Be sure the lid is correctly closed
- Lid switch broken. It may need to be replaced.
- Motor broken. QUite expensive repair, the motor needs to be replaced.
- Timer broken.

Check the lid is correctly closed, perhaps the lid switch is having some failures.

My wsher agitates but does not spin or rinse

Check your lid switch. If the washer fills and doesn't do anything, or stops right after the wash cycle and then does not advance to the rinse cycle or drain, this is commonly caused by a lid switch malfunctuion. I would recommend you check your lid switch first due to the frequency of use and the fact that it is the most common cause of these symptoms and least expensive to repair.

If the switch is not activated by a lid strike, it will activated by a hinge actuator located next to either the left or right lid hinge. You will need to remove the operator console in order to access this type of switch.

NOTE: On this type of lid switch the lid hinge has a small rod that is used as an acutator to toggle the switch. In many cases, you can adjust the rod by bending it if the switch is not making contact.

If you determine the switch to be defective, the following link explains how to replace one:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385198-replacing_lid_switch

If parts are needed, a replacement can be purchased on line at searspartsdirect.com, pcappliancerepair.com, repairclinic.com, appliancepartspros.com. All these sites offer competitive pricing, so shop all of them for the best price.

This is a very simple repair, that usually costs about $25 to $35 to repair yourself. If you have questions, or require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

This is a common symptom of a defective lid switch. If you try opening and closing the lid and do not hear a distinctive "clicking" sound, your lid switch may need to be replaced. Some lid switches are located on the right-hand side of the lid opening with a small slot. It is activated by a plastic piece called a “lid strike” on the lid itself. Make sure the lid strike is not broken off. This will keep the switch from not working.

On some model washers the lid switch is located on the left-hand side, in the rear, mounted under the casing near the lid hinge. It is activated by a rod on the lid hinge. Sometimes the rod can be adjusted if it is not making good contact with the switch. In either case, if the switch is not activated, it will allow the washer to fill and maybe agitate, but will not start the rinse or drain cycles. If you diagnose it and wish to attempt the repair yourself, the switch costs about $25 and is fairly simple to replace if you follow the steps below:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385199-replacing_lid_switch_whirlpool_top

You can find a replacement at searspartsdirect.com. If you need further assistance, please post back and let me know.

Washing machine will not drain/go into spin cycle

Check your lid switch. If the lid switch is not making proper contact, or is broken, the washer will fill, agitate (some model washers won't), then just stop when it gets to the spin cycle. If this is what you are experiencing, then this could be a quick and easy repair for you.

Try opening an closing the lid. If you don't hear a clicking noise when the lid closes, the lid switch may be bad or loose. It is mounted under the opening of the tub rim on the right-hand side and held in place with two screws. Make sure the lid strike ( a small plastic piece) is present on the lid as well. This closes the switch contacts when the lid closes. If the lid switch does not function, the washer will not complete a wash cycle.

If the determine the switch and/or lid strike is broken, searspartsdirect.com carries the parts need. Just type in the model number you provided and you will find the lid switch under the "Top and Cabinet" heading as item #11 (part #3949238). The Lid Strike is under the same heading as item #20 (part #350733).

If you need advice on how to replace the lid switch please post back and let me know.

If I'm off the mark here, please post back with comments and give me a little more elaboration on what your washer is doing or not doing.

PS You do not need to drain the tub to replace the switch. If you wish to drain it, however, and want to by-pass the lid switch, I can give you instructions on how to do this as well.
