You will need to connect to the component inputs on the TV, red, white and yellow sockets. If the DVD does not have these outputs you can get a converter cable such as this

Does this DVD player support analog output?

For all DVD players, It will support analog if there's an RCA output jack (just like the old ones) for Video (Yellow) , left and right Audio jacks (white and red). S-Video connection is also analog.

If there's none, then that means you have to use an adapter to convert it to analog..

Cant get any audio from blu ray movies or streaming netflix either

First off what kind of connection are you using to connect it to the tv, Is it going directly to the tv or through a receiver? Also what is the model of the tv? You may want to try an analog audio connection first to troubleshoot. Once I have more information I can assist you further.
Thank you,

Does blu ray technology work with old TVs

Yes, provided the TV can accept one of the Blu-Ray player output connection types. But there is NO advantage over DVD, the reason is that Blu-Ray is designed for 1080i and 1080p resolution high definition TV's, and you won't get better resolution simply connecting a Blu-Ray player to an old TV.

These players don't play through channels like the old school VCRs or some early DVD players.
This is either connected through your HDMI or component video cable input on your HDTV.
You need to toggle through your inputs on your TV to the proper one where your BD Player is connected through.
If you have it connected to an analog TV, then you need to toggle through your TV inputs as well. Usually called Video 1, Video 2, Etc.
