In a word 'yes'!
Either the interlock requires adjustment if that is physically possible on your machine or the sensor requires checking and possibly replaced.
For me this is a rare quick answer- I normally rant on............................... :-0)

Go online and search for brand and model number service manual. There are probably multiple things it could be, but the troubleshooting section should point you in the rite way.
