As soon as the screen comes up that tells what kind of computer you are using when you start the computer, keep tapping the F8 key and that will bring you to a menu with choices of safe mode, safe mode with networking, and restore to last known good configuration.

SOURCE: Running Vista system restore 8hrs (not in safe-mode)

I am fairly sure that if you stop the system restore mid stream it  will just resort back to where it was w/o any problems.  Then you can restore in safe mode. If it took that long ,if I were you , i would go and clean the harddrive or run check disk or download hard drive tools from;    seagate.com      and check the hard drive .  Your other option is to use you restore disk and restore the whole thing. If the hard drive is bad you will ending up doing this after you install a new hard drive.

SOURCE: I want to restore my Acer Aspire M1100 desktop

You'll have to use your recovery disk to set it back to factory, unfortunately most recovery disks give you little or no options for which software is to be reinstalled. The only way to install windows without any of the extra software that your computer came with would be to take a standard windows installation disk and install through that. Afterwards you would have to manually install all the driver software.

Alternatively, you can install with your recovery disk and use the add/remove software feature in the control panel to remove any programs that you do not want, just be sure that you don't remove any software that is a driver for any hardware devices.

Hope this helps, get back to me if you need any more information.

SOURCE: Unable to reinstall DVD backups after HP SYSTEM RECOVERY failed

Code "purple" means you and your computer are done. It is an unrecoverable error that means you need a new system. However, I have found a couple of postings that claim to know a fix. I can not verify these methods, I do not own a HP or other type of prefab PC (custom is the only way to go). Anyway, here are the links, good luck.

SOURCE: Can not get the Recovery Disks to restore my system,

Ok. What you have here is:

1. A bad Hard Drive.
2. A so corrupted files due to several factors including the possible hard drive failure.

Try to remove it from the pc and mount it on another one as a secondary hard drive or better as a slave (you can find a way to do it on the web, explanation is too long). Or, get your self a Hard Drive External Enclosure and mounted on it and connected to another pc as ay External Hard Drive (to me, the external enclosure is the best choice since you can use them for different hard drives and is just a swap out procedure, pretty simple). Either way you do it, if your pc can load it up, run check disk utility for it. That, for the most part, should fix some files to let you access it and do a back up. If I was you and if you succesfully save all the stuff you want to save, I would reinstall the Operative System from scratch. If it fails to install or gives you problems after the fresh install, get a new Hard Drive. Good luck.

P.S.: If my explanation helped you, please leave a review.

Asus system factory restore

Hi

System Recovery Using the Parttion
* Press F9 on booting up (right after you power on and see the ASUS logo), you should now be able to access system recovery. (This is the sys-recovery combi on my ASUS.)
All you need to do is to read carefully before clicking any button upon system recovery process.

NOTE: This is only if you have left intact your system recovery partition. If you have formatted or deleted that partition, you will have to get the recovery cds.

Attempt to restart the computer to get it to start up normallly.

If this does not work then you may have to install new windows to correct the issues the virus may have caused.

I have a asus essentio series how can i restore it to its original state to as when i bought it

you will need to locate the "restore disk" that you should have gotten with your machine. You need to boot from that disk and follow the instructions that are on the disk. WARNING....restoring the machine to factory state will most likely erase all your data. There are more detailed instructions if you check google, and the asus site. Overall if you can successfully boot the machine from the disk it is pretty simple.

Good Luck

Hi I am trying fix my niece's ASUS eee T91 which goes to a black screen with a cursor on booting up. I get no response at all after this. I can press shift and f10 to get into bios setup but dont...

Hello,

You may try this; Turn OFF the laptop, remove the power sources (ac adapter and battery). Without power sources, hold power button 10 secs. Put back the power sources, and power ON the laptop. If the laptop will not boot by doing this, take it to the nearest repair center to have it check for possible motherboard issue.

Also, you may try to boot in safe mode. Tap continuously the F8 when you turn ON the laptop until you reach the advance boot option. Select safe mode and let it load. Once loaded in safe mode, do the system restore. To do system restore, follow this:
  • Open System Restore by clicking the Start button 4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33.png, clicking All Programs, clicking Accessories, clicking System Tools, and then clicking System Restore.? 18abb370-ac1e-4b6b-b663-e028a75bf05b.png If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

If it does go to safe mode or if same problem will persist after the system restore. You need to do system recovery or reformat the system. Some laptops provides Recovery disc, some has it on the HDD. You may contact ASUS tech support to know the recovery option for your model.

Good luck.

Unable to restore

You are really not giving enough information to be of good help.

What kind of restore have you tried to do? Have you tried to restore from MS Backup ?
Is this a system restore.?

Anyway, if you have your system restoration disk, install it and fallow the prompts.
Or is you are restoring from vista, type recovery manager and select from the list of items.
If you are trying to do a complete restore, choose that item.
