" experienced a problem with my Samsung Stratosphere where the Settings app would crash every time I plugged the device in. It would throw an error that said "Process com.android.settings stopped unexpectedly. Try again." The only option is to "Force Close" . This same error would appear whenever I went to Settings > USB settings. Fixing this problem was easy.
Since the settings app is ultimately the thing that's crashing here, it will need to be reset. That means you'll lose a few custom settings such as your wallpaper. Follow these steps to solve the problem.
1. Select Settings.
2. Choose Applications.
3. Select All.
4. Scroll down and select Settings.

Have you tried doing a factory restore? It will wipe all the information from your phone(contacts, downloaded apps, etc) most likely this well solve your problem it sounds like the android os is not booting properly or may have a system dependent service crashing on boot causing the system to hang. If iPhone won't turn on, or the display freezes or doesn't respond

Also, Try this: 1.) Shut down the iPhone 3G. 2.) Start up iTunes 3.) Hold down HOME button on the iPhone 3G 4.) While keeping the HOME button depressed, plug in the Sync cable 5.) A message will pop up to ask if you want to reset. 6.) Just click YES and the reset process should start.
