My ipod wont restore becuz it says files are in diff applications

Well i try 2 restore my ipod becuz everytime i connect my ipod my itunes freeze so i cant add new music 2 my ipod which sucks..and when i try 2 restore it becuz i think that will help it says its restoring but then a thing pops up and it says that some of my files are in different applications..so what does that mean?..wat can i do?..HELPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Put your ipod in disk mode by Pressing and Hold the Menu and Center buttons, when the apple appears switch the the Play/Pause button and the center button and hold til a check mark appears.
Attach the ipod to you computer.
Go to My Computer and find your ipod drive, right click and choose FORMAT.
Don't do a quick format. let it go through the full format and when it's done try and restore it in itunes.
It should restore fine.
you may have a virus in it that is not allowing it to be deleted by the restore process.

Try to restore your iPod with connecting it to your pc or mac and open iTunes. When you are in iTunes you could try to restore the iPod in the menu of iTunes where it sees your connected iPod.
You've to be sure to backup all the important data to your pc or mac.

Purple 8g ipod nano wont snyc, it just says that they cant find the folder, then my itunes freezes. redownloading itunes does not help


Try a 'Restore'. Connect your iPod with the cable that came with it to the USB port on your computer. In iTunes, click and (Restore). This will rebuild all the software on the iPod and restore your songs.

If your still having problems estore using a new user account Create a new user account on your computer and try to restore while logged in as the new user. iTunes will download a new version of the software restore file. After creating the new user, log in to that account and open iTunes and attempt to restore to see whether the issue persists in this new user.

Windows Vista and Windows XP
From the Start menu, choose Control Panel. Open User Accounts. Select Create a new account and follow the instructions to complete the account setup process. Once the new account is created, choose Log Off from the Start menu. Log in to the newly created user account.
When a restore issue is specific to a user, it is likely due to an unusable .ipsw file. The ".ipsw" files are what iTunes uses to restore your iPod or iPhone. If those files are unusable, then try deleting them so iTunes can download a new copy of them. Creating a new user will also cause new .ipsw restore files to be downloaded in the new user. You can find the ".ipsw" files in these locations:

I would suggest you take it in to the apple store for repair already. Most often this type of problem is hardware related already.

To reset your iPod:
  • 1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  • 2. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

Tip:
  • If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
  • If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.

ok, well we need to perform the restore.

unplug the ipod. then plug it back in, make sure noting is useing your ipod, no windows into the ipod disk are open or any programs expt itunes is on. (close everything else you dont need expt itunes)
