There are many different things that can cause this problem and there are replacement parts. The internal thermostat, heating element, limit switches and age and use of the ice make also need to be considered. If your model is the GS6NBEXR you can enter that into the parts search feature and it will take you to photos of your ice maker. On left side of page click on #12 that shows a breakdown of parts of ice maker. I have removed them and repaired them, so it is possible to repair. If you find that repair is more costly then you may choose to get a new replacement ice maker part # 2198597
I will be here to help you go through the repair if you like, Let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze (click on link below)

What casues the ice maker to make a constant clicking noise?

It thinks that ice has frozen into cubes, and it's trying to eject them. Look into the icemaker and move the sensor wires (stainless) around... you may get it to work right.

I HAVE A GE PROFILE/FREEZER ON BOTTOM - THE ICE MAKER MAKES A TICKING SOUND AND NO ICE. IT STARTED RIGHT AFTER WE INSTALLED A NEW WASHER- WHICH INVOLVED SHUTTING /TURNING ON THE WATER.

NOTE: This
is a multi-solution answer since I don't have all the tech from your question to pinpoint your problem
But the solution is in here generically, if you read and study the solutions very, very carefully.
Check Temp inside freezer. It has to be down to about 10 or 15 degrees
This can cause slow ice making if its too high even tho its freezing everything else at 25 degrees
The ref. temp should be about 33-35
The Freezer temp should be 0 to 10 Any thing below these temps is overkill and a waste of elect
The higher the number you turn it up to is the coldest
The icemaker is 110v
See if water is in icemaker.
Pour water in Ice Maker and wait to see if it ejects.
If it ejects thenyou need to replace water valve in rear bottom of fridge(Its the part that
attaches to water line out of wall)
If it doesn't eject then it is a faulty Ice Maker.
If its leaking or no water at icemaker or door either one, then the valve at the rear bottom of ref needs replacing
First I would check the fan in the freezer. Listen to see if it is running
It moves air to the ref from the freezer
Then check to see if freezer control is turned WARMER, which makes the Ref. colder
Also if it is getting drinking water to the door but not to the icemaker (or vice versa) Then you need to replace
the water valve at the bottom rear of the fridge. It is a double valve and one side is not working
Also this might be a common Defrost problem, Ice
is not being melted by the defrost system. The fan can't blow through the coils into the fridge.
Take out back panel of freezer to check for ice buildup. The coils should be clean.
There are three components to a defrost system- a heater, heater thermostat, and a timer unless you have a defrost electronic card.
Its best handled by a Technician but you could possibly do it by taking your model number to the nearest appliance parts store and asking for the parts. They are mostly located in freezer ,behind back panel on freezer coils.except the card which is usually located in ref The parts store will have info
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath

This is the procedure but yours seems to be a faulty Icemaker and needs to be replaced since your freezer is cold enough to make ice rapidly.

Check Temp inside freezer. It has to be down to about 10 or 15 degrees
This can cause slow ice making if its too high even tho its freezing everything else at 25 degrees
See if water is in icemaker.

If it ejects thenyou need to replace water valve in rear bottom of fridge(Its the part that
attaches to water line out of wall)
If it doesn't eject then it is a faulty Ice Maker.
If its leaking same part needs replaced. The water valve at the bottom rear of fridge.

Fridge Freezer makes 'groaning' noises

Sounds like it could be the icemaker . If the icemaker heater is bad , (replace icemaker ) , then it will groan while trying to dump the ice .You can try turning the icemaker off for a day and see if that stops the noise .

AMANA ARB2257C ice maker makes noise/doesn't eject cubes into bin

Hi: First off make sure the fridge is level. Is It too high in front? Making the rear of the icemaker overflow and jam? Also make sure the freezer section is a zero degrees, not just frozen. Ice cream should be rock hard. I hope this helps you avoid calling service. Thank You, Jeff

I have a kenmore side by side and the icemaker makes a ticking noise that last about thirty seconds and stops. It happens maybe once an hour. How do we stop the ticking ?

the ticking noise is the icemaker motor. during ice harvest there is a time whne the icemaker motor "stalls" out against the ice before the ice releases into bucket. its during this time the motor is making the noise. this is a sign of motor gear wear. the motor module on the front of your icemaker needs replacing the part number is 8201515 and should run 60-80 dollars. this part is easily replacable. remove front i/m cover and there are 3 phillips screws that hold the module in place.
Hope this answers your question. any furhter questions just leave a comment here and I'll be glad to assist any way I can.. Peyton

Ice is not ejecting

Sounds like the icemaker thermostat is opening too soon which turns the heater off.  The easiest thing to do is replace the whole ice maker which I have seen pretty cheap on ebay.  If you want you can test these part with an ohm meter.  Check the heater for resistance.  If it is ok then replace the module and thermostat.
