My camera (Olympus Camedia 5.0MP D-595 Zoom)briefly landed in a mud puddle. I immediately wiped off all the surfaces that I could easily access without taking the camera apart. Later, I placed the camera inside a large, sealed ziploc plastic bag containing an opened jar of Drierite dessicant and left it for several days. Eventually I was able to turn on the camera but I'm unable to access the Menu to change settings or adjust the lens (wideangle/telephoto). I can see a dried dirty film in the viewfinder and flash. Should I attempt to take the camera apart and clean it> Would placing it in a bath of 95% (v/v) Ethanol work? I believe that it would have no electical conductivity at that concentration and evaporate fast. Or would I be going about the problem all wrong? Wasting my time and effort?

It will turn on once in awhile, but after you turn it off and try to turn it on again, it just makes a small whining sound, won't turn on. Have tried a new battery, no luck.
