Sound like the fan is unbalanced , go to HOME DEPOT or any hardware store and purchase a pack of weights , these are small weights with self adhesive on them, to BALANCE IT start with one blade at the time , with the pack of weights it should include a square black horseshoe type to clip on the fan blade , this black clip is to let you know where to put a small weight, OK , so clip on at the middle of 1rst blade , start fan at high speed , if it shakes less , put on a small weight , do the same with the rest of fan blades , until it stop shaking , hope this helpful , AJ

My Hampton Bay Victoria 70 in. French Beige Ceiling Fan has started to sway and make funny noise anything above a level 3

swaying fans are a symptom of out of balance. The blades have to be all at the same height to the ceiling or from the floor . It it was ok before but just started this when the noise started then it may be failing bearing in the fan.
with most fans that means a new one but take it to an appliance shop as it may be repairable.
bearings will be from a bearing supply shop

I want to install a ceiling fan and have discovered wood lath + plaster backed by some other wood. Can I screw into that? No attic.

I'm a professional Handyman and install fans a lot. The most important thing is to be sure the fan mount is sturdy. You can get pros at Home Depot and Lowe's to help you buy the right stuff. Many people just take down a light and put up a fan. NOT GOOD! ... if the electrical box isn't really sturdy, the weight of the fan and over time, could cause the fan to fall down. Your description of "what you discovered" isn't clear enough. Offhand, I would say 'yes'. I only charge about $65 to install fans, so it might be worth it to you to find a handyman to do it for you. Try Craigslist. If you feel you can do it, 'google it' -install a ceiling fan. Try watching videos too.

My fan is making so much noise but stops sometimes when i shake the system

you will have to dismantle the laptop remove the processor fan and clean the surface of the processor and the fan and apply a thin layer of heat sink compound and fix them tightly to the socket when the heat sink compound gets dried up the heat dissipation of the processor changes the thermostat in the processor fan send to increase the speed of the fan as the processor heat rises to cool the processor

I'm trying to take down my Hamton Bay Ceiling fan. How do I get the cover offthat is covering the electrical box

Hi,
They make them a couple of ways...

The most common is for them to have screws on the vertical sides of the cover... remove them and then twist the cover off...
Some have screws up through the cover....

and some covers will just twist off...

Get something to get up there in such away that you are comfortable...and can do some twisting and pulling with out being afraid of falling...

Help me fixe my ceiling fans

Start over again!
Make sure that the HANGER BRACKET is properly and securely attached to the ceiling joists.
Then make sure that the HANGER BALL of the fixture is properly seated in the HANGER BRACKET.
Make sure the SUPPORT PIN is properly seated in the grooves in the top of the hanger ball.
Make sure that ALL the BLADES are firmly SECURED with TIGHT screws both at the BLADE ARMS AND at the MOTOR.
Remove the BALANCING WEIGHTS from the blades.
Make sure that the DOWN-ROD is indeed VERTICAL and not BINDING.
Turn on the fan in the SLOW mode and let it operate for a few minutes. Is the "shake and noise" issue still present? If NOT, turn it to 'medium speed and if still no problem turn it to high speed.
However, If the problem is STILL present, turn the fan OFF. Look closely and carefully at the LEVEL of the blades. You should be able to determine if one or more of the blades appears to be out of level. Use the minimum amount of balancing weight on the blades, and not every blade may need a weight. You do not want to contribute to the problem here.
If, after you have gone through all of the steps suggested here, the problem persists, then you have done about all you can do as a consumer to make this fan operate satisfactorily.
DOCUMENT the actions you have taken in an effort to remedy the issue on your own.
At this point load it up and return it to the place you purchased it for replacement or refund.
Good luck. :)

Glass Shade wont come off

The same thing happened to me, you put them on two tight. just right now i was going to take mine off so i could let u know which way to turn it. but can't take it off and i just put it on last night, & not too tight. i just remember that i have an xtra one, okay i got it it's counter clock wise. you're going to need someone to help you hold the light kit fitter assembly while you turn it. careful not to strip the light kit fitter assembly. mine rotates both ways now because when i tried to take it off it would turn so mabybe it's the other way, and nothing. then i got **** & started to used more force, back and fort, by myself even with the help of my friend it was a ***** to get it off. good luck. Ceiling fan woobles on high speed

Turn off fan, then check to see that all of the blade mounting screws are tight. (check blade to blade arm and blade arm to fan body screws/mounting mechs.) If none are loose, you can purchase a blade balancing kit from most hardware stores, including Home Depot and Lowes. Let us know if this helps or the cure you come up with.

Remote Control Problem

I had this problem. One day everything worked. The next day the fan ran at 1 speed and the remote didn't turn on the light, change fan speed, nothing. I changed batteries on the remote - no good. As you should know, the dip switches on the remote and on the fan have to match - which makes the remote and the fan on the same radio frequency so they can talk to each other. (They let you change radio frequency so that you don't control a similar fan down the hall as well as the one in the room that you intended to control.) Anyway, come to find out from the fan guy at Home Depot that sometime the dip switches on the fan "fall" out of place leaving the remote unable to talk to the fan. Sounded crazy, but sure enough one of the dip switches on the fan wasn't tightly in place. Once all the dip switches were tightly in place (with the fan dip switches matching the remote dip switches) everything ran fine. To change the dip switches on my fan that meant uninstalling the fan from the ceiling and taking the big top cover off to expose the dip switches.
