Question about Mitsubishi WD-52525 52" Rear Projection HDTV

1 Answer

Lamp failure in WD-52525

Bought tv with dim lamp, went out after 20 hours.  Replaced lamp and worked for 250 hours or so, but took 15-20 seconds to warm up.  Lamp light comes on but lamp still looks new.  Lamp striking sound only happens 1 time, I seem to remember that when the lamp failed the 1st time the striking sound would happen multiple times.

Should I replace the lamp again or get a new tv?

Re: Lamp failure in WD-52525

I actually own this tv myself... that striking you here will only occur when the lamp does not fire. as far as lamp life i have found that mitsubishi has the longest lasting bulbs from my experience. i would check to make sure the connector on the lamp is seated properly into the other connector in the tv. if you know your lamp is 100% i would look at replacing the lamp ballast. ive had this tv for a few yrs now and love it.

Hello, I have a 52525 and the lamp indicator went

push the menu and device buttons on the front of the set both in together and hold for 6 seconds and see what two digit error codes blinks. It will most likely blink a 3 pause then 4 and then repeat the sequence indicating a 34 error for lamp abnormality which is almost always caused by faile capacitors on the Power pwb.

Mitsubishi WD-52525 52-inch DLP HDTV ywllow warning lamp light

that means your lamp it is getting to the end of its life.
sometimes even if the lamp still good the TV will send you that message because that timer is closed to 5000 hours

What you can do is open the lamp door, closed again and the tv will ask you if you replaced it the lamp, and just say yes and that sign will go away

or just simple replace the lamp. 915P020010

Mitsubishi WD 52525 lamp replaced, no picture, red light

You have to take the TV apart. Pull the electrical chassis out and look for bad electrolytic caps on the boards. The red LED probably means the 2 - 3300UF caps on the power supply board are bad. You can tell if they are bad by the fact that their tops are puffed up and they may or may not be leaking brown fluid. Compare them against the other caps on the boards and you will see how they have flat tops.

BUT before you take the TV apart you can check the error codes by pushing "menu" and "Device" at the same time and holding for about 10 seconds. The status light will blink two numbers. ex. one flash pause two flashes is 12 Error Code Probable Cause

12 No error detected
22 Recovery from momentary Reset
32 Lamp Cover open
33 Air Filter Cover open
34 Lamp abnormality
35 Chassis Fan failure
36 Exhaust (Back Cover) or Lamp Ballast Fan failure
37 Engine (DMD or Lamp) Fan failure
38 Excess Lamp Temperature
39 Excess DMD Temperature
41 Short Detected
44 DVI Cable (between Chassis and Engine) disconnected

or use this table -

You can buy replacement caps from Mouser electronics online. There are plenty of solutions detailing how to do this already posted.

No picture

Lamps have been known to burn out the power supply to the DM assembly. If there is no visible damage to the lamp, your problem may be the power supply or the board. Good luck.
