Question about Microsoft Internet Explorer 7

2 Answers

Internet Explorer is erratic. more info, 2 days ago a automatic down load came through. I let it install Internet Explorer 8 and a .net program. Internet Explorer became very erratic when called it would flash and go away, quit working , locking up and could not clear it with Windows Task Mgr. I tried to remove IE 8 no luck I finally tried a restore back to May 1 2009 this seemed to work a little bit. I downloaded and installed a fresh version of IE 7. I still have lock up's and IE 7 does not call up a web page. More info This is the second time I have tried to download and install IE 8. It did not work the first time either. I am useing XP with SP3 it has worked well for about 3 years. I don't think that XP is the cause of this problem?? Can you help? I am communicating with Mozilla Firefox " it still works normally"

Do you have addons in your IE browser, if so right click on the IE Icon and click start in NO ADDON MODE and see if the behavior stops.
also, the .net framework can cause issues you may want to reinstall the .net 3 update individually and see if your IE settles down.
There are so many things that can cause problems in IE. especially when you update it, seems everytime there are problems.

Just an FYI, I did not post my problem, but had a similar problem after installing IE8. I uninstalled it, had problems ever since, tried everything I could think of, nothing worked. Read ipodslinger's solution, went to add-on's and sure enough, that was my problem. THANK YOU ipodslinger!

Downgrading from IE9 to IE8

1.Close all programs, click Start and click Control Panel.

2.Click "Uninstall a Program" under Programs category.

3.Click "View installed updates" option in the task pane.

4.Now select Windows Internet Explorer 9 shown under Microsoft Windows updates and click Uninstall and follow the instructions on the screen.

downgradetoie8fromie9_thumb.png

IE9 uninstall process lasts for minimum 3 minutes and you will be able to access Internet Explorer 8 as usual after restart.

Note:I recommend users to create a restore point before uninstalling IE9 because whenever you want to try IE9 you can get it through system restore option in windows.

OR

1. Click the Start button Picture of the Start button, type Programs and Features in the search box, and then click View installed updates in the left pane.
2. Under Uninstall an update, scroll down to the Microsoft Windows section.
3. Right-click Windows Internet Explorer 9, click Uninstall, and then, when prompted, click Yes.
4. Restart your computer.

OR

You can restore your system 10 days before that will uninstall Version 9

Please let me know if it was of some help..

Thank you.

I have lost the use of internet explorer - I get a run time error. I have tried to download from their website but my system says there is a newer version already loaded so it won't load the one I down...

Steps for Windows 7To uninstall Internet Explorer 8, follow these steps:
  1. Close all programs.
  2. Click Start vistastartbutton.jpg, and then click Control Panel.
  3. Under Programs, click Uninstall a program.
  4. In the tasks pane, click Turn Windows features on or off.
  5. In the list of windows features, clear the check box next to Internet Explorer 8.
  6. You receive a warning message in a pop-up window. Click Yes.
Internet Explorer 8 will now be uninstalled. The system will restart after the installation.

if that fails then there is a manual way to do this using the CMD prompt...
  1. Carefully select and then copy the following command: FORFILES /P %WINDIR%servicingPackages /M Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-8*.mum /c "cmd /c echo Uninstalling package @fname && start /w pkgmgr /up:@fname /norestart"
  2. Click Start, and then type Cmd.exe in the Start Search box.
  3. In the list of programs, right-click Cmd.exe, and then click Run as administrator.

Note If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
  4. Right-click inside the Administrator: Command Prompt window, and then click Paste to paste the command that you copied in step 1.
  5. Press ENTER to uninstall Internet Explorer 8.
  6. When the uninstall program is finished, restart your computer.
You cannot uninstall Internet Explorer 8 if it is set as not removable. This occurs if you install Internet Explorer 8 before you install Service Pack 3 (SP3) for Windows XP. If this scenario applies to you, then you must uninstall SP3 before you can uninstall Internet Explorer 8. Yahoo messenger automatically shut down

Please upgrade first the version of your Windows Internet Explorer. The connection of Yahoo Messenger rely on Internet Explorer.

If you are using different web browser like Mozilla Firefox, It doesn't matter. Just install Internet Explorer 8 compatible with your operating system and do not default it as your browser.

Do this and you will find it easy to access your yahoo Messenger in just a second.

Here is the link for downloading Internet Explorer version 8. Select the operating system you are currently use.http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/worldwide-sites.aspx

After installing the IE8 and Yahoo Messenger 10, restart your computer.

Please comeback after establishing your Yahoo Messenger connection and give me some rating.

Thank You for using Fixya.
