Re: Parallel Printing

This is the spooling normally you will have to upgrade the memory or set the printer driver to print direct to printer and start spooling after first page. But my money is on the memory.

Thanks J

Depends on what part of printing that's slow. Parallel port may be slower than a USB or network connection. If your printer doesn't include a USB port, one may be available to add to it. Same for a network connection.
Other things that make laser printers slow is what you are printing. Text typically prints quickly, but images take longer, and large images take even more time.
Some software waits to send the first page until the last page is done "processing" before sending anything to the printer. You may be able to change that.

Why does processing job take long?

the print file detail may be multi-layered may be too much information in print job- your printer memory may not be adequate, you may be printing through a slow network, you may be printing through an older print server which is as slow as parallel port printing or you may be printing through your parallel port which is slow.

I have an epson tm-t88IV on a USB port it is very slow to react when sent a print job, I did not have this issue with the Parallel Port, is there anything that can be done?

Have you used yet to find the solution?
Go there (it's an Epson site) and set up a free user account.
From what I'm reading, it has to do with using Windows drivers slowing the response and printing. There are drivers on Epson Expert which should solve your issue.

Multiple page print job doesn't finish when paper runs out

This printer should continue to work one paper is added. If not hitting the continue button (Top silver button with an exclamation mark on it) should allow it to resume.

After that can you tell me what the blink sequence is being displayed on the panel?

Slow printing

Purchase a PCMCIA parallel port adapter. the USB to parallel adapters are a pain to set up and are flakey at best. The PC card adapter provides a native parallel port to laptops without one, and works perfectly in ALL cases, even with the scanner cartridge. In Vista, the printer may then be manually installed from its list of printers, and set to use the new LPT port.

Check the print processor settings in the advanced tab of the printer properties. This should be set to Winprint, and not anything else.
