While many problems can be solved by less drastic measures, Compaq owners sometimes need to restore their computers back to factory new condition.
If the operating system becomes corrupt, or if the computer is struck with a persistent virus, restoring the PC to its original factory default settings is often the best way to deal with the problem.
While older Compaqs relied on restore CDs to restore factory settings, newer machines come with a recovery partition built into the unit.
Shut down the Compaq computer and wait for it to power off.
Press the "Power" button to restart it.
Press the "F11" key as soon as you see a black screen.
This will boot the Compaq into the recovery partition.
Follow the on-screen instructions to back up any user files before the recovery process begins.
Click "Next" to start the recovery manager and follow the on-screen instructions.
Hope this helps.

The phone can be set to default factory settings by opening of the menu- settings- restore factory settings and type 12345. Also if the phone has hung up , there are errors in the software. So to reset remove the battery and the memory card from the phone. Using your PC , scan the memory card for any corrupt files or media files with virus- it is possible when they are downloaded from unsafe sites. If so remove or format the card. Now replace the card and battery and switch on the phone. If the phone hangs up then it is confirmed that the software is corrupt and will need a reinstallation. Seeking help from the authorized service /support centre is most ideal. Take estimate and decide.
