Legacy 15.1 roof mount monitor shows no signal

Will a bad placed ground wire be the reason for a no signal shown on the monitor?

Atmo- Absolute Atmospheric If the atmospheric pressure sensor system fails

spheric Pressure (the signal is out of the usable range, wiring short
Pressure Pa =100 mmHg - 900 or open), the ECU sets Pa at 760 mmHg (the
Sensor mmHg standard atmospheric pressure).

Atmospheric Pressure Sensor (Service Code 15)
Input Voltage Inspection
NOTE
o Be sure the battery is fully charged.
o The inspection is the same as "Input Voltage Inspection"
of the throttle sensor and the inlet air pressure sensor.
• Turn the ignition switch OFF.
• Remove the ECU (see this chapter). Do not disconnect
the ECU connectors.
• Connect a digital voltmeter [A] to the connector (8), with
the needle adapter set.
Special Tool· Needle Adapter Set: 57001-1457
Atmospheric Pressure Sensor Input Voltage
Connections to ECU
Meter (+) --+ BL lead (terminal 1)
Meter (-) --+ BRISK lead (terminal 14)
• Measure the input voltage with the engine stopped, and
with the connectors joined.
• Turn the ignition switch ON.
Input Voltage at ECU
Standard: 4.75 - 5.25 V DC
*If the reading of input voltage is less than the standard
range, check the ECU for its ground, and power supply
(see this chapter). If the ground and power supply are
good, replace the ECU.
*If the reading is within the standard range, remove the
seat cover, and check the input voltage again at the sensor
connector. *Remove the air cleaner housing (see Air Cleaner Housing
Removal).
• Disconnect the atmospheric pressure sensor connector
and connect the harness adapter [AJ between the main
harness connector and pressure sensor connector.
• Connect a digital meter to the harness adapter leads.

• Measure the input voltage with the engine stopped, and

NOTE
o The output voltage changes according to the local at·
mosphen'c pressure.
D The atmospheric sensor output voltage is based on
a nearly perfect vacuum in the smaJl chamber of the
sensor. So, the sensor indicates absolute atmospheric
pressure.
*If the output voltage is within the usable range, check the
ECU for its ground, and power supply (see this chapter). If
the ground and power supply are good, replace the ECU.
*If the output voltage is far out of the usable range, remove
the fuel tank, and check the output voltage at the sensor
connector [A] (when the wiring is open, the output voltage
is about 1.8 V).
• Connect a digital meter [A] to the harness adapter leads.

SOURCE: can't get aftermarket turn signals to work

Brian,
What you can do is make a ground by attaching one end of a wire to the inside of the frame where the turn signal stem mounts. ( The nut will hold it there) The other end of the wire can then be plugged into the ground system. This will complete the circuit by grounding the housing.
You can find the connectors you need at just about any auto parts store, or hardware store.

Many problems arise down to physical component issues so try these things before trying anything else.

  1. Double check all cables are correctly inserted
  2. Make sure power is being sent to all devices in the loop
  3. Try the source (Set-Top box, Games Console) on another monitor first if possible
  4. Make sure the monitor is set to the correct output. (HDMI, VGA, Compenent)
After all this has been tested you can easily isolate the problem to be down to the monitor itself.

Well it sounds to me like you may have a ground plane problem, or whomever "peaked" your radio may have messed with something they shouldn\'t have causing your poor reception. You can try trimming your antenna to get a better SWR, but you also might want to look at your antenna mounting. It may be in the wrong area of your vehicle. Where the antenna is mounted is very important, more so for recieving than transmitting. Is it a magnet mount or is it installed permanently? Where you position the antenna will affect it\'s performance as will the ground plane. If it\'s a magnet mount, it will work best on top of the vehicle roof in the middle of the roof, or in the middle of the trunk. The nearer to the edge of the vehicle, the more ground plane you lose. Where it\'s mounted and how it\'s grounded could even make it directional. Does the antenna have a coil? Is the coil right next to your back window? If so, you need to move it. Try different areas of the vehicle for performance. If your antenna is permanently mounted, it will not work well if it\'s mounted on a corner, or on the edge of a truck bed etc. Ground it with heavy wire to the frame of the vehicle and make sure that the area you make the ground has been cleaned of paint, rust, dirt etc. You want to see shiney bare metal, and when you find the right place to mount it, seal your ground with rubber undercoat spray to prevent rust from messing up your contact with the frame. Your antenna will always work best if mounted in the middle of the roof or trunk where it can use the sheet metal as a ground plane. As far as how far you can get out, that depends on how much power the radio puts out, and how clean your audio signal is. 1.4 swr is OK but it can be much better. If the power was "peaked" too high, your audio is going to suffer in clarity and overall quality. You\'re best off leaving the radio alone and getting an amplifier. Ten watts of ugly power is not going to sound anywhere near as good as 5 watts of clean power, and the extra 5 watts gets you very little extra distance if any at all. To increase an audio signal by 2db, the power of the transmitter needs to triple. For instance, if you are recieving a signal at 2db from a 100 watt radio, the power would have to increase to 300 watts to give you a 4db signal, and you know that a 4db signal isn\'t going to be a whole lot better than a 2db signal as far as being able to hear what is being said. So the difference between having 100 watts and 300 watts is only 2db. And heres where the cleaner audio is going to really pay off. A 6db signal with crappy audio will sound worse than a 4db signal with clean audio. So the radio with the clean audio will sound much better than the radio with twice or 3X the power with crappy audio. So you\'re really not getting much if anything by having your radio "peaked". You may have even ruined your radios audio if the guy doing it is a power freak and doesn\'t understand how good radio signals work, and he pushed your radio to it\'s limits. Get an amp and leave the radio alone. Have it put back to stock and get an amplifier (and don\'t have your amp "peaked")! You\'re better off with 5 watts of clean than 10 watts of dirty. Get your antenna situation fixed and try to get the SWR better and you should be good to go.

How do i install a cb radio on a pick up truck


You will need a CB radio antenna, The CB radio and mounting hardware as well as the power wire.

Choose a place to mount the radio. Mount it. Run the power wires from the radio to the fuse box. Put red wire in with the fuse that is hooked to switched 12 volt. Ground the black wire to any metal of the vehicle.

Next find a place to mount the antenna. If you use a mag mount, the roof of the cab is a best bet. Run the wire into the vehicle, it can go through the door, just make sure its not going to get pinched.

Hook the coax from the antenna to the radio

Now you have to tune the antenna. this is important because if you don't you you will blow the transmit final transistor out in the radio.

The DB15 VGA (Video Graphics Array) connector contains however 15 pins in three rows of 5 pins each. These five pins carry the color and synchronisation signals, also a digital I2C interface for two-way communication between the video controller and monitor. The common 15-pin VGA connector found on most video cards, computer monitors, high definition televisions which support VGA connections. The following schematic diagram and table shows respectively connector and pin assignment of DB15 VGA.

You can purchase a variety of different monitors from your local electronics store (ie: Best Buy, Circuit City) or your local car audio store. There are many different models ranging from visor, to roof mount, to seat mount, to dash mount. Check out crutchfield.com for some examples. They are a reputable car audio dealer.
