You cannot do that. When you shut down the wireless goes off. That would be like trying to continue watching a tv program after to turn the tv off.

SOURCE: laptop

Unclear here? When you take the battery out, it shuts off? Assuming you do have the power supply plugged in? (sorry, I know it sounds silly that I ask that, but you just never know)

Acers will work with the battery out, actually that is how I HAD to work my acer. I personally would not buy another ACER because of the problems I have had with mine. I had to remove my battery as the keyboard and mouse would NOT function with the battery in place. (the battery never held long charge from new anyway). So I started using it plugged in all the time. (no battery).

As far as the hitting the wireless button and the computer shuts down, I'm wondering if just moving the laptop period is what is causing the shutdown. My Acer too, (because of jiggly PS jack on the back) would cut off is laptop is even slightly moved. Maybe while pushing the button the laptop too gets moved? Unsure. It may be a shortage issue, but I suspect it has more to do with shorted PS jack.

Hope this helps at least some. Good luck!

SOURCE: My Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop will not connect to

Try using system restore to back the computer up a few days before you made the Wii connection. Start button > programs > accessories > system tools > system restore. Pick a date on the calender before you connected the Wii machine and see if that restores your router settings. If not, get back to us for more solutions.

My esystem laptop keeps tuning of when it gets hot

Hi susan
Thanks for posting.

This because of the following
1. Overheating of processor due to bad vents near the CPU fan
2. Due to lot of dust inside.
3. Bad adapter power supply
4. Bad memory module

1st and the top most is to inspect if the fan is at high RPM when its hot. Any ways you can open the laptop and inspect the Heatsink it is a brass assy. which is just above the CPU. and a fan connected to it so it can vent the heat generated by the Processor. Normally if you use the laptop on bed or sofa the lint collected by the suction of the fan from the vent area at the bottom of the laptop will get accomulated neat the exhaust area of the fan causing the fan to slowdown and hence resulting in this sort of problem. If you are not confident in opeing the laptop do take it some nearest store for the same.

Is your wireless adapter enabled on the device you are trying to connect to ( is it a laptop)? Do you see your wireless SSID when you search for Available Wireless Networks? shut down the laptop and start up the laptop. reaquire the signal.

Hi. i'm trying to get my girlfriends notebook(advent 4213) connected to the net. i am using my own wireless net but when i click on the net it comes up saying this page cannot be displayed. do i h

If the Advent notebook normally connects to the internet without problem on her network, then you need to check the following:

1. That she does not have any proxy connection setting in her web browser that you do not use on your own network.

2. Check that her wireless adapter is configured to Obtain an IP address automatically and also Obtain DNS server address automatically.

3. Check the status of the wireless adapter connection and ensure that the Advent notebook has been given a valid IP address, i.e. if your are connecting to a wireless router on your network, you should see an address something like 192.168.x.x where the x.x depend on how your router is setup. If you see a 168.x.x.x address then the notebook is not getting a valid, routable IP address and you should try to do a Repair of the network adapter connection. Repair may also be shown as Diagnose and repair depending on which version of Windows is used.

I own a advent 4213 and i try to connect to the network and it just gives up it has the correct wep key but i dont know what to do

Hi

Firstly make sure that the wireless switch is turned

and if it is not connecting properly you could right click the wireless icon in the task bar
go to the properties of it then delete it

then in a few seconds windows will show you a notice saying that wireless connections are available

so back to the connection click connect then reenter the code/key and hopefully that will do the trick

good luck

Lost capability to connect to wireless network. Can connect to local but not wireless

There are a couple of things you can try here...first, you can make sure that you are not in "selective startup". There are times that when you are in selective startup, there is a service that can be shut down that keeps the wireless from seeing the internet. Second, if you have Norton or McAfee, they are the biggest cause of a loss of internet connect and it is the way that they handle the firewall settings. In most cases, deleting these programs or manipulating the firwall setting within them will get your internet connection back up. Your wireless network will say it is connected and with a strong signal, but if you cannot get on the internet, then that is most likely firewall. McAfee turns the windpws firewall off and uses it's own, that is where the problems come into play.

Laptop keeps disconnecting then connecting every so often.

Has the computer ever stayed on long enough to connect to the internet?

Is there a wired computer working when attached to the router?

If not, if possible please try to connect the laptop wired to the router as a test and tell me if it works.

I am trying to determine if your router works with the internet before considering the wireless connection simplying the initial problem. Once the router works wired is time to try the wireless. Once the wireless works unsecured you may want to change the router and wireless adapter to secure the wireless network. So this can be a three step process.
