Location of canister vent valve solenoid on 2009 f150

For a 5.4L V8 Flex...canister Purge Valve--centered right behind the throttle body. Should see a hose with a quick disconnect and an electrical connector on one side (driver's). Opposite (passenger) side has another 6-8 inch hose that runs from the valve to the engine with a quick disconnect on the engine side. The valve itselve is about 2-3" long, black cylinder (google Motorcraft CX2447 for picture)! Very easy to replace yourself (5 min job). Remove the electrical connector (push in on rear side and pull), remove the two quick connects by squeezing the gray prongs and pushing the connector outward. Hose should slide right off. Pull valve off of bracket (there is a rubber piece that holds it on--it will slide off of the metal bracket, but have to wiggle it loose), replace part, reconnect hoses/elect and you're done. Just make sure the hoses are fully seated.

The actual canister is a black box on the inside of the frame beneath the driver side (have to get under the truck pretty far to see it). It has about 3 hoses running to it from the fuel tank. On side facing the front of the vehicle, you'll see a hose that runs up through the firewall to the purge valve.
it's mounted above where your spare tire is on some of the other motors its above your spare tire

Leaking fuel line at quick disconnect

Since it has a Quick Disconnect it means you don't have a petcock since it is fuel injected. There have been several people that have had problems pushing it up all the way before releasing the collar. Please try and make sure it is pushed up all the way to the max before releasing the collar. It may seem like it is up there because it is locked into place but it will lock without being completely sealed against the seal of the valve assembly.

Where is connection

    • Locate the accumulator bolted to the firewall on your automobile. It usually bolts to the passenger side firewall but this is not a rule. However, it will be located on the passenger side of the engine bay. The accumulator is approximately 12-inches in length, 4-inches in diameter and has at least tow large hoses extending from it. These hoses are the high side and low side hoses. Locate the metal portions of the high side and low side hoses. Each hose comprises of a hard-metal line and soft-rubber line secured together. The metal portion of the hose bolts to the accumulator. Locate the low side and high side valves. They are located on the metal portion of the hose connected to the accumulator and both have black plastic caps covering them. The high side valve is a 16mm quick disconnect valve and the low side valve is a 13mm quick disconnect valve

I purchased the Porter Cable 20 piece accessory kit part A00438, and no idea on how to assemble this. No instructions included either. This is the kit that allows to put airpressure in your car, bikes,...

First get some teflon thread tape, for applying 2 or 3 tightly wrapped turns around the male threaded quick-disconnect adapters, threaded end on your air hose and compressor before installation.
Note: remember that the female quick-disconnect adapter is also a check valve that will only release air when a male quick-disconnect adapter is inserted, i.e. do not install a  male quick-disconnect adapter directly to an air compressor outlet.
Note 2:Always remember to wear approved eye protection when operating air tools.
Start by installing the female quick-disconnect adapters on a male threaded end of the air hose and on to the outlet port on the air compressor tighten the connections with two open end wrench's. Then install the male quick-disconnect adapters to the other end of the hose, blow-gun tool, and the air chuck tool, (tighten as described above). The other implements in the kit (wire brush attachment, inflation needle, etc...) can be threaded in to the outlet port of the blow-gun as needed.
The operation of connecting  quick-disconnects are as follows: Grasp the tool in one hand, and with the other hand grasp the air line near the end leaving the thumb and fore finger free to operate the spring loaded outer release cylinder on the female quick-disconnect by pulling back on it. With the cylinder pulled back, insert the male quick-disconnect adapter in to the female quick-disconnect adapter, then release the thumb and fore finger from the outter release cylinder, thus locking the two together. check to be sure the lock has engaged by lightly pulling at the tool. Reversing this process will disengage the tool from the air line.
    Hope this helps Good luck
