Problem importing pictures on pc from Nikon D3100

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Nikon Transfer ( http://support.nikontech.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/61 ) or Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

How do I transfer or import pictures from my camera to my pc using the usb connection not the memory card?

Hi,
The very first thing to do is you have the lumix driver in your computer. Then use the firewire to paired them. Some brands of digital camera give you difficulties to transfer data from mass memory ( camera memory and is not additional memory <mmc/sd>) to other media like computer. It is invisible when trying to import and all you can do is just enjoy the data / pictures by using play back features in your digital camera. So what you should do is just connect them as usual ( remove the memory card before commence this task) and seek the pictures you are looking for in digital camera. If nothing found there, you can not get the pictures imported then.
Regards, Jay

There are also plenty of photo catalog software packages out there, some free, some not, that can transfer and catalog your pictures so you can quickly find pictures from Susie's birthday party, for example. Just do a google search for "photo catalog software".

Hello. With your computer turned on try plugging in the cables with the camera turned off. After the connections are made turn the camera on. This usually works for my Kodaks. If that don't work right click" My Computer" and see if your camera shows up there under "devices with removable storage". If it does you can right click to open , view and move as you wish.
