Entering new phone number

How do you enter pauses in a new number?

I want to enter a phone number for my voice mail.  That means I 'dial' the first number and then I have to wait for a prompt before I enter the mailbox number.  So I need there to be a pause of about 5 seconds between the first number and the second number.

Here is the solution I got from Motorola:  Regarding your concern, in order to add pauses to a contact number, please follow the steps below:

the OK key > Contacts > New Contacts > Press the OK key >
Enter a name for your entry > Scroll to Mobile 1(or the appropriate
option), then enter the number for your entry > Press Options, then
press the OK key > Press Add or insert Pause.

    Pause (p):
The phone will pause for 3 seconds and then proceed with the next set
of numbers. Multiple pauses can be entered to allow for more time. Most
used for voicemail and other automated systems.

Dialing speedial 1 does not access my voiemail even tho it says it is dialing it a greeting comes on asking for an access code. the nly way to get voicemail is dialing manually and the icon onscreen does...

OK, usually one cannot use the speed dial feature unless you insert, pauses in the number, IE: you must add 1 second, "Pauses", after and before the number you dial... also you can then add, your access code too, well theoretically anyway..
So, you pause, for 1 sec, then dial the number, pause for 2 - 3, 4, maybe 5 seconds, seconds, then enter your access code and Enter code.
This should then be able you to then speed dial and connect and enter your PIN, all at the same time, if your PIN isn't recognized, try adding more pauses before entering.
If NONE of it works, then you simply have a network/phone that will not do it.

Forgot how to add new phone numbers and names to my phone

Creating Phonebook Entries To store names and numbers in your Phonebook, please follow these steps: When the phone is in standby mode, press [phonebook icon] (on the left side of the four-way key). To create a new phonebook entry, press the NEW soft key. Edit Name appears. Enter the name for this entry (Edit Name). Use the keypad to enter a name for this entry; the name can contain up to 1 6 characters. (See page 1 1 for instructions on entering text.) If you do not want to enter a name for this entry, your phone will store this entry as No Name. Press the OK soft key when you are finished. Enter the number for this entry (Edit Number 1). Once you have stored a name, EDIT NUMBER1 appears next. Use the number keypad, [right] or [left] on the four-way function key, or the DELETE soft key to enter the phone number 1 ; the phone number can contain up to 32 digits. If you need the phone to pause between digits when it’s dialing (for example, to enter an extension or an access code), press [redial/pause] to insert a two-second pause. You will see a P in the display. You can also use more than one pause together if two seconds is not long enough. Each pause counts as one digit. Press the OK soft key when you are finished. EDIT NUMBER 2 appears next. Use the same procedure when entering the phone number 1 to enter the phone number 2. Press the OK soft key when you are finished. Assign a personal ring tone for this entry (Personal Ring). You can attach a personalized ring tone to each phonebook entry; the phone will use this ring tone when this person calls. Move the cursor to highlight one of the 20 different ring tone options. As you highlight each ring tone, you will hear a sample of that tone. When you hear the ring tone you want to use, press the OK soft key. If you do not want to use a personal ring tone for this phonebook entry, select the NO SELECTION option, and the phone will use your standard ring tone setting. Assign this entry to a Speed Dial number (Speed Dial). Your phone has 1 0 speed dial numbers, 0 to 9. Move the cursor to select the speed dial number you want to assign to this phonebook entry, and press the OK soft key. Select NO SELECTION if you do not want to assign this entry to a speed dial number. Press the OK soft key. You will hear a tone confirming that the new phonebook entry has been stored, and DONE! appears in the display. Note: When the shared memory is full, the oldest Caller ID message is overwritten.
