Check the back of the machine to see if there is a tiny red button. This is a thermal safety cut out button, which you may need to just press to reset

SOURCE: electric dryer - drum turns but no heat

If it has a conventional electro/mechaniacal timer, then the timer is faulty, as it should advance, unless of course it has a time delay function, if it has, make sure it is off.
This probably explains why it is not heating.
Plz rate this solution.Thanks.

Most likely, it is the thermostat which controls the heating element. The Bios Thermostat will have two wires connected to a round disc which has a flange and screw holes to hold it next to the blower vent or the center of the drum. Use an ohm meter to see if it open or take it to an appliance parts store to have them check it for you. You may also see a thermal fuse and a high temperature cut-off thermostat which should not read open with an ohm meter. Any open thermostat will prevent the heater element from turning on. The part should be about $25.00.

Won't stop, have to manually open door

Sounds like a bad timer. Your dryer is a Whirlpool product.so a replacement timer should be easy to locate. If the timer is advancing but the dryer won't stop, the problem could be the control unit. Run another load of clothes and take notice of the timer's position. If it doesn't run out, then it's very likely the timer. The video below shows step by step instructions for replacing the timer unit.

Whirlpool electric dryer LER5620KQ1. won't heat up timer does not advance

Same problem with my Whirlpool Dryer: Model LER4634EZ2 which stopped heating. I checked the coils that was "OK" then I checked the fuse that was "OK" I replaced the Thermal Fuse and High Limit Thermostat then after starting the dryer the heat came on ... problem solved NO.... the dryer just kept running and running until I opened the dryer door. Not going to put 70 or so $$$ into this 10 year old dryer which up until 12/15/2011 worked fine.

Element heats, dryer tumbles, no heat in drum, never shuts off

Hi, If the dryer heats but will not advance in either time or auto cycles, you need to change the timer.
You can test to see if the timer is getting voltage. Remove the top rear panel and locate the two wires going to the timer motor. There should be 120V when the dryer is running in time dry.
Please let me know if this helps or if I can assist you further.

Thanks
Vic

Whirlpool dryer keeps running, doesn't heat up

Yes. If the timer does not advance, it is a timer issue. the heat may or may not be related, try replacing the timer first.
