Question about Whirlpool Dryers
Electric dryer stopped heating. Still runs but timer doesn't advance and does not heat. What should we check for?
Check the back of the machine to see if there is a tiny red button. This is a thermal safety cut out button, which you may need to just press to reset

If it has a conventional electro/mechaniacal timer, then the timer is faulty, as it should advance, unless of course it has a time delay function, if it has, make sure it is off.
This probably explains why it is not heating.
Plz rate this solution.Thanks.

9 times out of 10 check your fuses there r usually 2 for your dryer that most people dont know about 1 of them is for the power and the other one runs the timer and heat

Most likely, it is the thermostat which controls the heating element. The Bios Thermostat will have two wires connected to a round disc which has a flange and screw holes to hold it next to the blower vent or the center of the drum. Use an ohm meter to see if it open or take it to an appliance parts store to have them check it for you. You may also see a thermal fuse and a high temperature cut-off thermostat which should not read open with an ohm meter. Any open thermostat will prevent the heater element from turning on. The part should be about $25.00.
