Unable to get wireless connection at a new location

My daughter took our linksys router to her apartment, which is 60 miles from our home, it is wireless. She is not able to get the internet. Support told her the router has to be reconfiguired . Is this because she is in a new location? Everything worked fine when she was home. The internet provider at home was verizon, now she has comcast.

Hi Tom_Charney,
You should tell your daughter to find the "Reset" button on the back of the router. With a pen or paperclip (or something else equally small and sharp) to leave the router plugged in, and press that reset button AND HOLD IT IN for 60 full seconds, then let go. After she lets go, she needs to reboot her Comcast cable modem by disconnecting the power cord, waiting 10 seconds, and plugging it back in.

This will reset the cable modem, and the router, and her laptop or computer should magically find the wireless network, connect to the internet, and she's done. If she wants to change the security settings or router settings, she can do that later. The first step is getting it working.

Hi...

Verizon uses PPOE(point to point protocol over ethernet) and Comast does not use PPOE. Therefore she needs to get inside the router 168.192.1.1(user:admin & pdw: admin) to disable the "PPOE". Oh and also, the router needs to be hard wired to the computer for reconfiguration to take place...hope this helps

If its a modem/router then i believe you need to register the mac address with the internet provider. to access the router setting open your web browser and enter 192.168.1.1 enter your user name and password and you are now working with the router settings.

Cannot connect second wireless computer

Check your router settings and the password in there. Make sure the password you are entering is EXACTLY the same. It is case sensitive. For example:
597E5577 is not the same as 597e5577. Also check for a space in the beginning or end of the password. In most routers there is an option to display characters instead of the **** it normally shows.

My daughter is home from college. Her computer can't connect to our homes wireless. It recognizes that the wireless is there, but can't or won't connect.

What does it do when you try and connect? Does it ask you for the key? Is your wireless network have security set up on it or is it an open network?
Thank you,
Lee

Is there any computer connected to the router ?
If not then connect the computer to the router. If you are connecting a wireless computer then disable the wireless connection on the computer. open the set up page of the router. change the wireless network name to something different that you never used before. change the standard channel to 11. save the settings. Try to connect to the wireless network. Check if you see the new network name ? If you see the new then try t connect and see if that works.
This router WRT160N has issues with the firmware.
Upgrade the firmware of the router. power cycle the router.

3 failed attempts to connect HP DV6t laptop

First as a test, turn off the wireless security, and see if the laptop can connect.

If it can connect with security turned off, then it is likely that you are making some type of mistake with the password. (Such as caps lock being on, or having a keyboard error.)

Good Luck!

WIFI not working with Linksys wireless-g broadband router/Comcast

Unplugging the wireless router and connecting it again should not have altered the wireless connection/configuration. You have connected the cables correctly because the Internet works when you connect a LAN cable to the router.
The Linksys wireless configuration or the wireless card configuration in the computer was changed it to lose the wireless connection. The wireless card configuration needs to be changed to match the wireless router's settings or change the Linksys with new configuration settings and configure the wireless card accordingly.

Can't connect my Ipod touch to my router?

You must be sure to what router you are trying to connect. I understand you have a ZyXel and a linksys. You must have 2 wireless networks. Your wireless network must be secured, so you just have to use the correct password. I need more details. Try this http://technicalsupport.blog.friendster.com
