Question about Compaq Presario 5686 (402445-003) PC Desktop
When I restart to access the BIOS Menu, I press F10. This is the correct BIOS menu button for my model (Desktop 5686). I know this because I have used the BIOS menu before. Anyway, When it comes up it says setup password, and shows a picture of a key. The only buttons that work are the two enter buttons.
Try removing the CMOS battery, waiting 10-30 seconds, and reinserting it. If the computer displays a "CMOS Checksum Error", the password will be cleared, but the BIOS settings will be lost.
