Question about Apple iPod touch Second Gen (8 GB, MB528LL/A) Digital Media Player

1 Answer

My ipod is not connecting on Bose docking station.

My ipod touch 2 G is not connecting on Bose docking station. Almost like it's a short. Anyone ever had this to happen to them. Does anyone know if Bose will fix the problem? Only had it about 5 months.

This is not very clear. Not connecting, physically? Or not playing audio/charging?

If it will sit in the iPod cradle, try gently pulling forward on it while playing audio (it could be a loose 30-pin connector if you're not using a protective insert)

If it's 5 months old, it's still under warranty and can be repaired for free by calling Bose. (and given a new 1 year warranty automatically)

Some of the older docking stations don't recognize the next gen iPods.
Refer to your user manual to see what iPods are compatible with your system.

Dock is not recognizing the Ipod

1) Back everything up on your iTouch.
2) Restore, using i tunes (connected to the computer. Not just 're-store' to factory settings under Touch settings).
3) Put everything back on to your iTouch.

Worked for me, if not for you- check that the faults not with your dock.

You need to reset your ipod. You can go online to find out how to do this. I had to do it with mine and then it worked perfectly.

Bose ipod dock shows it is charging ipod and ipod shows to be playing but no sound. Any solutions?

Which ipod are you using? a great many docks are not compatible with the touch. When shopping for a dock to use with the touch there is a separate icon on the packaging that denotes ipod touch and iphone compatibility. If you no longer have the box or user's manual check with Bose' customer service.

If your ipod is not a touch I would check to be sure that the dock connector is clean and clear of debris.

I am also assuming that the ipod synchronizes normally with your computer (meaning that the ipod's socket is good) Try listening to the ipod via headphones while it is connected and charging to make sure that there is not an internal problem with the ipod.

I hope this helps.

Bose docking station problem. Remote will not work on either my ipod touch or I Phone. The volume buttons work on the remote but the skip and pause/play buttons do not. The Bose is brand new and straight...

If it is brand new. It is under warranty. Go back to the store where it was purchased and tell them the problem. They should replace it with another new one. Have them show you how to use it on all of the functions on your Bose Docking Station. Make sure you tell them about the ipod Touch and the iPhone.

Does the new bose dock station charge the new ipod touch (32g)?

The new SoundDock II charges your new iPod touch and is fully compatible all iPods and the iPhone 3G. Also the SoundDock Portable will do this. But..
Better news-> Call Bose. They can upgrade the 30-pin connector to charge via USB-only and function with the remote as well. $99. This will make your iPod touch 100% compatible and somewhat future-proof your SoundDock. If the SoundDock was purchased within 90 days (at full retail price), they will do the upgrade for a smaller fee or even free I think.. (new 1 year warranty given with repair/mod) btw- This is an Apple issue, not a Bose issue. All 3rd party iPod connection devices had to make this change at some point.
