Problem with Rotisserie - Viking Gas Grill

I have a Viking gas grill with separate rotisserie burner (just got it used and converted from NG to Propane).  The rotisserie burner won't stay lit unless I keep the control knob depressed.  Thanks for any help! I have a VGBQ-T Viking grill and when I try to use the rotisserie, the element only heats for a minute, or only when I depress the control knob.

Hi

Did it behaved the same way when it was on NG or the issue started after the conersion from NG to Propane. Be certain you are pressing the battery ignition button (T-Series only) corresponding to the burner you are lighting.

Open the hood or remove covers. Push and turn the control knob until the “HIGH” position on the knob aligns with the indicator line on the control panel and continue to hold in the knob. Press the electronic ignition button corresponding to the burner being lit. You will hear a clicking sound. After the burner lights, hold in the control knob about 5 seconds longer or until the burner remains lit. Turn the control knob to the desired setting. If the burner does not light in 4 seconds, turn the knob to “OFF” and wait 5 minutes before trying again. This will allow accumulated gas to dissipate.

After several failed attempts the burner can be lit with a paper book match using the flash tubes. If you have just attempted to light the burner with the ignitor, allow 5 minutes for any accumulated gas to dissipate.

Please see this instructions manual for more details to fix this problem with your viking grill --

I would like to convert a grill that was used on natural gas back to propane. Can I just purchase a regulator and hose and be good, or do I need to change anything else on the grill?

Burner orifices must be resized or adjusted to accommodate higher pressure LP.
Air shutters should be opened all the way to allow maximum air to gas ration.

Jenn- Air rotisserie burner wont lite. Doesn't

Try removing the cover on the back of the grill hood and finding the orifice for the rear burner. Check to see if the orifice is plugged.

Rotisserie burner has to be lit with a match and will not stay on by itself. I have to push control knob in, even after it is hot. Also looking to replace igniter for left burner. Thanks.

From what you are describing, it sounds like your rotisserie burner may have a bad thermocouple. You can order the parts from Viking, the igniter for the left main burner will require you to remove the front panel to replace, but is fairly straight forward after that. To replace the thermocouple, you will have to fish it down from the burner and under the grill to behind the front panel, not hard, just time consuming.

I have a brinkmann 8534 gas grill and i need to know how to put a rotisserie on it

Buy the Brinkmann Universal Rotisserie Kit model #812-7102-S for $49.95. It uses 2 screws to attach a bracket to the existing tapped holes in the grill. It was that easy! I purchased my grill and the Rotisserie at Home Depot.

Flame does not stay on Rotisserie Burner grill but jumps back into the throat where the air mixes with the propane gas. What's wrong and how do I fix it?

If it's windy outside when this happens, the wind is blowing the infrared burner out. Especially if the hood of the grill is open. The Rotisserie should only be used with the hood closed.

Infrared rotisserie burner mounted on back will not stay lit.

I have the same problem - What I determined is first the gas safety valve button would not push in. I researched the problem and found that if you ever overheat your grill by "cleaning it" by placing foil over the grill, then the intense heat likely overheated the valve. ( in my case) which I replaced. After replacing the valve, my rotisserie would not stay on. I found that the thermocouple was defective. the TC is a piece of copper that attaches to the back of the safety valve and the other end has a probe that is up at the rotisserie burner. When you light the rotisserie, and press in the valve button, it should stay lite after about 10 seconds.
When the probe heats up, it sends and electrical signal to the electro magnet which operates and keeps the valve open. I bought my thermocouple from PEX supply for $9.50. DCS wants $56.00 for the same part which is manufactured by Robertshaw. Part number you want is 1980-072 thermocouple .

The rotisserie heating element does not fire up on my barbeques galore grand turbo BBQ. Electric ignite seems to be working, but smell gas no heat

The rotisserie should have a thermocouple near the burner. If you have to hold in the knob, or push a red button to get the gas to flow to the burner, and the electrode sparks and the burner lights, you have to continue to hold the knob or button in until the thermocouple gets hot enough to keep the gas on. If the burner keeps going out, you could have a bad thermocouple.

Jenn Air 720-0061-LP Gas Grill Rotisserie Problem

Hi all ,
I just bought a jenn air 720-0336 gas grill from bj's . the rear rotisserie burner would stop working after a few minutes .
hear is the deal , the rear inferred burner gets to HOT . they did not put any insulation between the ceramic blocks and the metal bezel. My fix was to remove the unit , drill out the 8 rivets holding the bezel on , carfully remove the bezel and install a fire proof gasket , i was abile to find the proper stuff at my local coal / wood stove retailer.it comes in a white sheet about 1/8 inch thick .
use steel rivets to reassemble . good luck . this took a week of trial and error to figure out .

Ducane 3400042 lighting problems

Good answer... but remember (if you have the regular burners on... The Rotisserie will not light.) 1. Cut all knobs off... Then push and hold in Rotisserie button as you turn to high.
2. Press ignition button, until you hear rotisserie ignite. 3. Keep holding in the rotisserie button until the thermostat realizes the gas is on and burning. (IT must get hot enough to keep gas flowing.) Hope that helps, Dave
