the battery is under the front cover. Pop it open with your fingernail or a coin. It uses a CR2032 button cell battery.

Reset distance mode in miles/not km

to change from km to miles or from miles to km... press and hold the reset button for (at least) 5 seconds (while in the distance mode.) This will reset your already walked info.
