YES!!! I don't know what I would do if my kids didn't have their pacifiers attached to their shirts. They help in so many ways. In the middle of the night if the pacifier falls out, they can easily find it to put it back in... and I don't need to be woken up to help them. When they flop it out of their mouths to take a bite of food it is always right there to reinsert. When they have tantrums as toddlers so often do, they know where to find their pacifiers and are easily soothed. Plus, it's one less thing I need to dig for in the endless pit I call a diaper bag!

What are the laws as far as keeping your pet on a leash in Canada?

The leash laws in Canada are pretty straight forward - aside from police dogs, all dogs must be kept on a leash in public. The only time your pet can be off a leash is when they are indoors or in a fenced backyard.

How do I leash train my puppy?

Before you actually start leash training, I recommend attaching a leash to your dogs collar while at home and letting your puppy get used to the leash being there. After a few days, you can then begin leash training. During the beginning stages, you should walk your puppy on the leash without pulling/jerking. If your puppy starts to pull on the leash, I suggest standing still. This lets your puppy know that you do not want them to pull on the leash. Always use positive reinforcement while leash training. Below I have attached a link to a site that helped me leash train my dog.

What are some of the negative aspects expected from a leather leash?

Generally speaking, leather leashes can be more expensive than nylon versions. Over time, leather can stretch, causing the leash to become weaker and slightly longer in length. However, the greatest disadvantage to a leather leash is that your dog can chew it, thus damaging the leash.

What is a retractable leash?

Retractable leashes can usually extend up to 25-30 feet long. They are ideal for leash training puppies; however they may not be the best solution for keeping your pet under control.

Can I buy a patterned dog leash that matches the collar? It just seems a shame to buy a great collar and then attach a boring bland leash to it.

There are places that design pet collars and leashes to match. I love the dogma London site that has a massive range of designs that match leash to collar;

My Flexi retractable dog leash will not retract is there any way to overcome this or do I need to buy a new one?

It could be that the leash became twisted when it retracted or that the spring that is used to retract it has broken, first of all pull out the lead all the way and try to slowly feed it back into the unit ensuring that it stays flat. If you have trouble feeding it back in to the unit it could be the spring - this shouldn't be too hard to replace by opening the unit. Undo the Allen screws on side of retractable leash. Carefully use standard screwdriver to gently pry the top from the bottom. Try to pry evenly on each side to avoid breaking the plastic casing. Visually inspect parts for signs of damage such as burns, cuts, rubs, tangles, frayed or worn sections. Check all sewn areas for loose, missing or damaged stitches. Replace leash material if necessary.
