A trowel is usually used for planting bulbs and small rooted plants into a garden, I suppose on a relatively small area you could use it to cultivate (turn over the soil) but it would become hard work if you had more than a square metre or so to do. Trowels are a garden essential and they have a multitude of uses as you will find out if you purchase one.

I installed bellavita glass tile 8x16 im having issues with mortar stickig to it and holding it on wall.. why?

Your not troweling enough glass thinset onto the wall. The thinset should be creamy and troweled evenly most people hold the trowel to flat or use to small of a trowel you also could lightly coat the back do the tile to give it a good mechanical bond

What are cultivating tools? My neighbor said I have to buy some if I want to start gardening?

Cultivating tools are the tools needed to perform the tasks from breaking up the soil and preparing it for seeding to keeping the weeds out of the garden . The size of the garden and the type of soil determine how complex your tool collection. A 10' x 10' plot with soft soil could be handled with as little as a spade to break up or turn over the soil, a garden rake to level for seeding, and a weeding hoe to keep the weeds at bay. A larger garden with harder soil may require a power tiller to prepare the soil for seeding and there are countless types of hand and power tools to help with the task of weeding and soil conditioning. There are many inexpensive gardening books to help get you started. I recommend that you do some reading to see what you are getting into.

I also have a tiny garden - I found this website to be really helpful as they have a compact range for small gardens;
It's a uk based site but their site can give you some good ideas of what to look for.

What is the proper way to hold the masonry trowel?

On the website
they explain: "Learning to hold the trowel correctly is important and will make the job easier. Gripping the handle with four fingers and putting the thumb on top of the metal band (ferrule) on the handle is how most masons hold a trowel."

Is there a difference between the step trowel and the pool trowel?

Yes. a pool trowel has round blade so it will not dig into wet concrete. A step trowel is to make round edges on stairs (mainly) because there is a 90 degree bend in the centre of the blade.

I am thinking of getting the BLACK & DECKER 18-Volt Cordless Garden Cultivator. How long is the battery life?

This tool is great! It works wonderfully so it is defintely worth buying. the battery life doesn't last that long though, maybe about 20 minutes. the good thing is if you have other black and decker tools, the batteries all interchange. if you don't have any then i would recommend buying a 2nd battery. great purchase.

They allow you to easily remove all weeds, as well as to aerate soil. They are really helpful. I bought one a couple years ago and my garden has looked great since then!
