1 Answer

I am looking to get a new hard drive for my pc.

I am looking for something that is compatible with this computer and if there is anything else that will help it out. It has an upgraded graphics card (ati radeon 2600pro) and I would like to use it for gaming more.

SOURCE: pc beeps five times when swtched on

PC beeps are usually memory-related problems. make sure you are using the right memory for your computer. the specs should be a DDR2 DIMM 240 pin PC2-3200. what specs do you have?
also do you have two 1G memory sticks or just one 2G memory stick? it may be that your computer doesn't accept a 2G memory stick but rather 1G memory sticks. good luck.

If the HP D530 has an AGP slot, which I think it does, then yes you can install the Radeon HD 4350 card.
Make sure you have the correct driver for the video card.

SOURCE: ATI Radeon 9250 PCI card not recognised.

Make sure the slot isn't disabled either by jumper settings or in the bios, and the card is securely inserted in the slot. If these aren't the case, you have yourself a bad card, or a bad slot.

The boot process stops at intel logo

When after inserting a new thing in a device, it stops, you have to assume the new thing is defect, or at least not setup to work in that device. Before you change a hardest, you must be sure it is 100% compatible. Not because the cable looks the same, makes it compatible. There are differences like speed and for the same interface. Sometimes one of the devices is downward compatible, but to always.

Where can I buy a new hard drive for a Sony Vaio VPCSC?

Amazon and eBay are usually good sources for computer parts. Once you know whether it's an IDE or SATA drive you should be able to find something compatible.

I want to install a new motherboard what should i buy

Your motherboard is the main component to your computer, so if you're thinking of re-using your RAM and CPU, you'll have to make sure you get a motherboard with the same RAM type (ex. if you have DDR2 RAM, you'll have to get a DDR2 motherboard) and the same CPU socket. My recommendation is that you find a motherboard that fits inside your tower, and buy a processor and RAM that is compatible with your new motherboard. If your hard drives are SATA connections, you should be able to reuse those on a new motherboard, but if they are IDE (big, flat wire) then you'll need to made sure the new board can accommodate your IDE hard drives. CD ROMs are also mainly SATA now, so if you have an IDE CD rom drive and IDE hard drives, it will be difficult to find a NEW motherboard with more than one IDE connection, meaning you'll have to change jumper settings, or simply buy a SATA CD-rom drive.
As far as software goes, you'll most likely have to reinstall your operating system if the upgrade is a substantial one. Video card is another thing to consider. Your motherboard might be using the older AGP technology, whereas new motherboards are useing PCIe connections. So to sum it up, when you upgrade your motherboard, it affects a lot of other hardware, but if you simply swap your motherboard with something compatible with the rest of your hardware, it isn't really an upgrade.

I replaced my HD on Dell inspiron 9300 and it won't recognize the new drive. The new drive was also purchased from Dell and was one that was compatible with the computer. It's saying there's no bootable HD...

It probably has found your new HD, you need watch the screen as you attempt to boot. Failing that enter the bios (usually " hit DEL to enter setup" appears on the screen. Don't change anything but just check to see if the bios has detected a hard drive.

Now .......... the reason why it won't boot is because you have to re-install windows onto the hard drive.

Anything you have should fit in there, you will have to upgrade the operating system, but the hard drive shouldn't be a problem so long as the computer is new enough to auto configure the hard drive.

How do you transfer hard drive from old comp. to new?

For just the data, get an ide to usb converter and connect it to the new computer, and just drag and drop.
You cant move an entire hard drive to a new computer because of driver issues, but you can use windows built in files and settings transfer utility.

If you are looking to save just a "small" bit of $ .. 2 - 1GB sticks should be cheaper .. but what is the current configuration . is it 1 - 1GB or 2 - 512MB or 4 - 256MB?

You have the option of IDE or SATA drive so either is an option .. You may want to get a drive copy utility and just "clone/ghost" your current to the new drive and then swap it to master and GO
