Question about Toshiba DR410 DVD Recorder
I am trying to transfer some shows from my cable box DVR (ATT Uverse/cisco/ISB7500) to a DVD-R using this Toshiba DR410 player/recorder. Numerous attempts at recording shows from dvr or live tv are producing the same giant error message: "Cannot record in video mode" Connections: 2 HDMI cords into panasonic tv, one from cable box, one from the Toshiba DR410. The box & 410 are connected by S-video as well as composite audio/video. Simply put... the TV is in either HDMI-1 or HDMI-2 mode (two HDMI inputs). Normal use with cable box uses HDMI-1. The DR410 uses HDMI-2. But, there's a twist. When the TV is on HDMI-2, I am able to access menus, change settings,do anything EXCEPT record. The above error message appears. If the TV is set to HDMI-1, I can't do anything with the 410, using the remote or directly. It cannot be accessed. So what settings do I need to make it record? HDMI 1 or 2? What about all of the 410 settings? The input selector eventually displays the same thing as HDMI-1, but it is in black and white, and again, will not record. Help from square one please?

most dvr units froim cable and satellite companies use a type of copy protection that does not allow you to copy programs to a disc. the cable company wont tell you this but they do and there isnt any way to work around it

I solved the same problem by disabling SIMPLINK from OPTIONS menu. I own the LG TV myself. The LG TV comes SIMPLINK "ON" as default setting from the factory. Go to MEMU -> OPTIONS -> Turn SIMPLINK to "OFF". This should work....

Set-up (Programming) procedure is too much to type in here, and is not practical and it will differ brand-to-brand remote controls. If you wish to get more; check the sites linked here. The site has set-up code list & set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. The site has general set-up codes to check with TVs and other devices are given, in the order of the 'device's brand name list' in alphabetical order. Set-up code list to many brand remote controls also is given. Pull up older posts. Search the sites by type in the brand name to your device in its search box at the top right part of the display window. It will help you to find the document easily..
