We are having trouble removing the system. We have the removal key for the new unit (also JVC) but it doesn't seem to fit. Any help appreciated.

It depends what kind of car it's installed into and the mounting technique used. Removal keys apply only to a radio that has been DIN mounted (ie: metal sleeve utilized). Many vehicles or radio kits use the ISO mounting method which involves screwing into the sides of the radio to secure it. Keys will not help in this situation. The dash or radio trim must be removed to access the screws on the sides.

With the front trim of the JVC removed, you should be able to see the metal sleeve around the radio if it was used. If not, the radio was ISO mounted.

Press and hold the SEL button to bring up the settings menu. Press and release the tuning (>>>) buttons until you see CLOCK H. Turn the volume knob to select the hour. If necessary, press (>>>) for CLOCK M; adjust the minutes setting with the volume knob. Press SEL when you're finished. Your new stereo comes with stereo removal keys. They are the small pices of alominum that are about 3.5-4 inches long.. They insert on each side of your radio. If you don't have them then you must remove the section of the dash under the radio.

If you try a known good speaker on each of the four outputs of the stereo and you get nothing from any of the outputs, the outputs in the stereo is bad.

It sounds like your stereo is working properly. I've never seen a car stereo that was wired properly that you could turn on and listen to while the car was off with the key removed from the ignition switch. You would have to move the ignition switch to the accessory position in order to get the stereo to work. Hope this helps. Good luck. Mike D.

Unit will not turn on

This seems like you have accidently rewired part of your electrics. You may have wired the power wire into the wrong place, and also wired your electric door locks into your accessories. YOU NEED TO BACKTRACK. Find you doorlock wiring and get it back to a constant power supply. Best bet is to wire your power wire of unit to cigarette lighter by splicing the wires or jacking the outlet at the back. Here is a guide to install your stereo. Following those steps and see if you went wrong somewhere.

Install in 2000 Neon?

Hi Siriusearl,

If the original connector and wires are not messed up and your doing a direct replacement of your Factory Radio, your in good shape. Go to Best buy and get you and adpater to go from 2000 neon. If you have the one that direct couples and leaves wires to terminate to the JVC, then you will have to hook up by standard hookup colors. And it should be color to color from JVC to the Adapter cable. If your still have trouble, leave another comment here and I will get an alert to check in on you.
