Close-ups of jewellery

Are you handholding the camera? For macro photography you almost have to have the camera on a tripod or other stable support.

Is everything blurry? That probably indicates camera motion since I assume the jewelry isn't moving. If part of the picture is sharp, probably in the center, then it's a depth of field issue. The camera focuses a certain distance away, and anything not at that distance (closer or farther away) tends to blur. Unfortunately there's not much you can do to control depth of field with a point&shoot camera. See http://www.fixya.com/support/r9564373-controlling_depth_field.

How can i take close up photos with my A70

Use close-up mode and place the camera on a tripod or solid surface to prevent blur from moving. Tilt the items so the flash (if you use one) will bounce away from the camera. Try using no flash with diffuse lighting or lighting at an angle to show the marks. Close-up mode is usually denoted by an icon that looks like a flower or tulip. Usually you can get as close as 6 or 7 inches and zoom-in in that mode.

If you want to take close-up, use Macro function. Button is located at rear and have sign like flower.
Want to restore default settings, go to camera menu and select Initialize, camera will power off and on again and select all default settings.
