Re: ir remote control/dish network
I suggest you have Dish send you another remote as the one you have appears to faulty but if you can get to the menu sucessfully you can try to reset the system to factory defauult settings and see if that resolved the issue. Thanks for using Fix Ya.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

You must read the instruction booklet that came with your Dish network receiver or the manual that came with the remote. Try going to replacement remotes and searching for the remote control model to pull up all the info about it. If they have the manual it will show for download.
Hi my nameis Mike Houston of DISH Network and I see you pushed the AUX button and the SATbutton will not light up. There is an easy fix to this, first replace thebatteries and try the Sat button. If the Sat button will not light up pleasereaddress the remote, I will send the link to help with these steps. http://www.dishnetwork.com/SupportSection/remote-setup
Hello leslie_poo_1. My name is Michael Hurst with DISH Network. I see that when
you press select you get a black screen. Try to perform a hard reset by
unplugging the receiver from power outlet for 10 seconds then plug it back in.
If you still have a black screen press the menu button on your remote. Press
Menu, 6, 1, 1, select check switch and then test. Once the test is done exit out
of all the menu screens.
Hi jscot myname is Mike Houston of DISH Network and I was going over your post and thereare a couple of things we can check. The first is to replace the batteries andafter the batteries are replaced push and release the SAT button and press select. If the SAT button did not light up the remote would need to be replaced.
First ensure the receiver is connected to the TV via coaxial cable and that the receiver is powered on. If the receiver is connected via composite cables yellow/white/red you will have to change the input on the TV to match the name of the port that it is connected to on the TV. An example of this would be video 1. Some TVs do not have an input aka source button on the set itself and is only located on the original remote. Others you may need to go through the menu to access them and finally some are incorporated into the scrolling of the channels from lowest to highest etc. You may also be able to use the tv/video button on the dish remote but this is not always possible.
Thanks for using Fix Ya. I hope this assists you.
If you are looking to have the Dish remote operate your TV, just do a random search for your tv. First, hold down the tv button on the dish remote until all the rest of the light up. Next press the tvpower button on the dish remote. Next, press the channel up button (this is the up arrow button) until the set turns off. When it does turn off, press the # key at the bottom right of the remote. The tv button will light and flash twice. That's it. Your done. Hope this helps.
I have read elsewhere that Slingboxes required the Dish Network receivers to be set to Primary Remote Address 1.
To try a fix:
Using the Dish Network Remote Control - 1. Press menu 2 times to get to system info page 2. In the system
info page the Primary Remote Address is in a white box (bubble) followed by a Green TV (1)symbol that
says IR and indicates the channel to which remote control 1 is
If the Primary Remote Address of your Dish VIP722 Remote control 1 is not set to channel 1, here is how to change it:
While displaying the system info page, press and hold the SAT button on
your dish network remote until all other modes are flashing, about 3
seconds. 2. then press the '1' button on the numeric pad of your dish remote 3. then press the '#' button on the numeric pad of the dish remote 4. then press the 'record' button (red dot button - stores setting) 5. At this point you should see a number 1 in front of the primary remote address on the dish system info page
you enter the corresponding IR code into your slingbox remote control per
the instructions in the Slingbox documentation.
The codes that are provided to operate the tv from a Dish remote will not offer full functionality with most TV's. The menu button on the Dish remote even when able to bring up the menu screen on TV's is unable to navigate the menu screen due to the complexity of the TV's set up. The newest receiver that Dish has on the market is the 222k which is a dual tuner/two room HD receiver without DVR that has LEARNING REMOTES that might be able to accomplish the goal you are trying to obtain. I hope this answers your question and remember to keep the original TV remote in a safe place so that you can use other functions on your TV as well. Thanks for using Fix Ya and let me know if I can be of further assistance.
