Question about Electrolux Precision Brushroll Clean Bagless Upright Vacuum EL8805A

Open Question

Electrolux EL8805A model

Exclamation point on front of vac. lit up. I bought floor model, so I have no idea what this means. Also the brush is not spinning. It doesn't look like there is a belt, so I am confused.

SOURCE: hello. I have an electrolux

Hello! There are two solutions to this as the Glider model you speak of could be the more old fashioned type where screws on the bottom foot plate (ie where the spinning brush sits) have to be undone in order to get to the drive belt.

However if you have blue/red/Harmony Glider type model, the drive belt location is on the top of the hood where the floor selector is. There are three screws to undo here; one sits just underneath the main hose to the left hand side of the machine (and can be tricky to take out) if looking at the machine from the front, whilst right at the front of the machine, you'll see two other cross head screws which need to be undone. Make sure that the rotary height dial is out of the way - the top hood should then pop open revealing the brush. Then just take out brush by grabbing the beater bar and pull upwards gently. Take off the old belt, put on a new one around the spindle motor and then onto the beater bar and push the brush roll back in.

Unfortunately you may need brute strength for this as a new belt is often tensioned.

Dont forget to rate. Thanks.

SOURCE: The brush on my Electrolux Versatility will not

Hello, W/D here.
Since the brush will not spin, but the motor works, either the belt has come off of the motor shaft, the belt is worn past it's useful life, or the beater bar has seized.
1. Turn off the power (unplug).
2. Remove the bottom plate. With the plate off, use your finger to test the tension of the belt. It should be tight, and roll when you roll the beater bar by hand.
3. Remove the beater bar and belt. Inspect the beater bar, particularly by the bearings. Remove any twine, hair, etc.
4. Inspect the belt for abnormal wear. If there is any significant wear in the belt, replace it.
5. Reassembly is in the reverse order. Place the belt on the beater bar. While holding the beater bar close to it's position, place the belt on the motor shaft. Rotate the beater bar bearings to their proper position and install the beater bar. Replace the cover plate.

Best regards, --W/D--

How to fix series 3500 upright vac

With vacuum laying flat with back facing up, remove the 5-6 screws from the bottom of the nozzle, turn on it's side, and pry into 2 slots on either end of the bottom of the nozzle to release the top cover. Lay vac flat on the floor/bench face up, remove the 2 small screws on either end holding the roller brush in place. Pop the belt end of the brush roll out of place, place new belt in, and simply reverse all previous instructions. With 30 yrs. experience dealing almost exclusively with the original Electrolux, I have a legitimate store front business and do service by mail at a reasonable cost if interested. mickeymackmark1@yahoo.com
Hope that helps! Mick

What does yellow exclamation point light mean

YELLO and RED mean danger - clogging, not brush turning, overheating, .... it is time to RESET -- turn it all off and let it sit for half hour - that is what the manual says, check the brush that is not clogged up and check the inlet to the hose and where the hose goes into the body from the head unit where the brush is - make sure those not clogged either. Turn it on, push the RESET button on left back side of head unit by the switch that changes height. The reset button is like a circuit breaker - stops unit when overheats, starts when reset. Yello is ERROR, and fix it before it turns red and stops all the way. Cheers!!!

New bag indicator will not reset causing bare floor mode not to work at all and mode 2 not to vacuum dirt properly

Your top motor (suction motor) isn't running. Your vacuum has two motors in it. The top motor is the suction motor that runs on the first switch position and the bottom motor (brush motor) turns on with the second possition.
It could be the switch. If it isn't the switch, the only other thing it could be is the motor itself.
To check the switch, unplug the vacuum and then take the three screws out of the back of the handle. If you are comfortable with electricity, jump the black wire and the blue wire togeather and plug the vacuum into a electrical outlet. If the motor dosen't run, the problem is with the motor. If the motor runs, the switch is bad and needs to be replaced. You can get one at most any vacuum shop.
The motor could be bad or the carbon brushes can be stuck with dust. This is more involved and I recomend taking the vacuum to a vac shop that works on the "old" Electrolux vacuums. The new name for the "old" Electrolux is now Aerus Lux but you would probably get it repaired less expensively at another vacuum shop.
If you want to go into the motor housing you'll have to take the big screw out of the back of the handle and pull up on the handle to remove it. Next, remove the four screws holding the top half (motor housing) of the vacuum. Two screws on the back and two screws to the front inside of the bag housing. You'll need a long #2 phillips screw driver. Then pull up on the bag housing with a side to side motion.
With the housing removed, you will see the motor and can lift it out.
Check for any bad winding. You can smell them to check if you can't tell by looking at them. If they are burned, you will need to replace the motor.
To check the brushes, you will need a 5/16th" socket to remove the two bolts on the top of the motor and lift the top bracket with the carbon brushes off and see if the brushes move freely. If not moving or not long enough to touch the top part of the motor with the copper bars (the comutator) it would be best to replace the motor.
To reassemble the vac just reverse.
This is a long and difficult prosedure and I reccomend that you take the vacuum to a repair shop that works on the Electrolux.

Floor scrubber

You can often find them on Ebay. Just look for Electrolux or Aerus Floor Pro brushes. You can probably also find them under Electrolux shampooer brushes.
You can purchase them from the Aerus site and they will ship to you: https://www3.aerusonline.com/Electrolux/index.asp
Or go to http://www.aerushome.com/storelocator/ and follow the directions for the dealer nearest you. If close enough you can pick them up at the store, they can deliver to your door, or they can ship if you live several miles away..

Red exclamation light is on and brushes not turning

On my Electrolux Precision, the exclamation light indicates that it detected an obstruction and will stay lit until the obstruction is cleared AND the "reset" button is pushed. The reset button is on the black part (same side as the exclamation light) about half-way back on the side of the vac.

My built-in Electrolux vac is about 10 years old and I want to clean and oil the main suction motor. At which points do I oil the motor and will 3-in-one oil work or is there a special lubricant. John

do not oil the motor as it is not required, nor is there any place to put oil. the carbon brushes should be replaced though. carefully remove one brush and bring it to a vacuum repair facility. they should be able to match it up. there is a # on the side of the motor
ie: ####-## put a 116 on the front of # and you should have mfr. part # of motor. you may need that to obtain carbons.
