Broken Screen! My little sister stepped on the screen and cracked it horribly, so i tried hooking up a DIFFERENT monitor (which was fairly new) i turned it on, and it WORKED! but only up to the WINDOWS XP start up screen and the blue screen that tells you its checking "disk C" once its done counting to 100, the monitor shuts off, and in the middle a blue box pops up saying "POWER SAVING" and thats ALL it will let me do. Please help. thanks.

no, whats happining when i turn on my laptop is the cracked screen and the monitor both turn on, then when i push that button, the screen attached to my laptop turns off, an the monitor is stays on, showing me the windows start up, and system check, once that finishes than, the monitor swiches to "power saving" mode, an turns off, my screen turns back on and just stays lit. but its so cracked up that theres nothing even visible in it.

If you dig around in google shopping, you can find replacement LCD's. Something similar like this maybe -> http://cgi.ebay.com/Acer-Aspire-3000-15-4-WXGA-LCD-Screen-Glossy-Grade-A_W0QQitemZ160233528611QQcmdZViewItem

If you look on the key board cloured blue is the FN key and a monitor looking key. (remember coloured blue) press them similtaneously your external monitor should return.  On my machine it is the FN key and F4 yours mabe the same.  Please comeback and tell me how you got on.

It has got to change and stay there by using the  Fn F4 key or similar.  I know because I am doing the same.  If the laptop comes on again continue pressing those keys until you get what you want and if it goes into power mode then change it in the control panel.

IPad replace broken screen

the only thing that i can be sure that would help is that you need to call the manufacturer and get a screen replacement because since the ipad is fairly new it wont have many guides or anything that can really fix a broken screen.

i hope that this can be useful

Not display the screen

Have you tried connecting it to an external monitor...?

If you get picture on the external monitor, then you have a bad LCD screen, buy a new LCD screen and install it.

If you still don't get picture on the external monitor then you will need a new video card or new motherboard. Sometimes hooking a laptop up to an external monitor can be tricky, most of the time the PC will just pick it up automatically though.

Is your machine actually powering on...? and continuing to run,..? Then it is a video problem and try the steps I listed above. If it is not on, or turns off after a little while, then you have more troubleshooting to do before it can be diagnosed.

Broken Screen

Do you still have a warranty on the computer?
Does the credit-card that you used to purchase the computer have an "all perils" clause, i.e., will they fix anything that you broke?

I would take the computer & the screen-from-eBay to a qualified technician, and have him/she do the replacement work.

Sounds like the new Samsung LCD screen is bad. The back-light on the Samsung LCD may be burned out. Check out this website; http://www.lcdsearch.com/

Lcd screen is on, but blank - nothing - no desktop comes up

Have you made sure it's not just switched over to external monitor? Check by holding the "Fn" button (usually at the bottom left of the keyboard) while pressing the key (often one of F1-F12) marked with different monitors. On mine this is F5. This may toggle it back if you have toggled it off by accident.

If it really is broken, I'd say $200 for a new one is a fair deal, at least if the computer itself is fairly up to date and powerfull.
