Video Card replacement options for Dell Inspiron 6400

Can I change my video card on a Dell Imspiron6400? I checked and the card can be removed, but I am wondering how I can find out which cards would work.

WELL IN THAT CASE YOU FIRST CHOOSE THE CARD YOU LIKE AND GO TO THE WEBSITE OF THE CARD MANUFACTURER AND SELECT THE MODEL NUMBER YOU LIKE AND THEN CHECK THE COMPATIBILITY TAB. .

YOU CAN DO THE SAME FOR YOUR EXISTING MOTHERBOARD AND GET KNOW THE FEATURES AND THEN YOU CMAN EASILY MATCH BOTH OF THEM FOR COMPATIBILITY.

My dell lcd screen some lines vertical problem

We might be having issues with the video card or the LCD
For us to isolate where the problem is coming from
1. Tried accessing the BIOS see if the vertical lines are present
2. If there are vertical lines on BIOS definitely the problem is LCD and we to replace it
3. So if we see vertical lines inside Windows we might have issues with Video Card itself or Video Card driver
4. Try uninstalling the video driver and install a fresh copy of video driver. Else we need to replace the video card
5. Usually laptops have integrated video. So we need to replace Motherboard

You need to remove keyboard first, and cmos battery is right under it if I'm not mistaken.

Black screen issue I believe is related to video card. Anyways try to update bios too.

Unable to detect lcd

Replace the Discrete Video card. That's why your LCD didn't detect when you run the Diagnostic test. There 2 type of video cards available to Dell Inspiron 6400/E1505. Either you have a on-board video card or discrete video card. Mostly, the discrete video card is caused when you not getting video output to your LCD (completely dark as if it is off). Discrete video card is detachable and replaceable. Good Luck.

Blank screen inspiron 6400

The only way to tell if its a video card problem is to swap it out with a video card that works and see if it works..if it does then its your video card, if it does not then its something else..but first try these two things and let me know what happens..first toggle the FN with F5/F6/F7. Sometimes it gets changed to video projector and the monitor does not come on..if nothing, then reboot and hit F8 that is Safe Mode. Choose Safe Mode with VGA, using your onboard video. If you can get a picture then go to Device Manager find the video card in the list and right click on the '+", then right click on the video card and update driver..see if one of the last two work before testing with a different video card. Let me know...pls rate this solution with 4 diamonds..
