Check out the USB to 5 pin mini plug cable that you can buy at Staples. I use the same USB cable to connect a Canon 4 MP camera as well as my JVC GZ-HD3U to a PC. If the camera developers were sensible enough, after you plug it in, you should be able to see it as if it were an attached USB disk drive.

I use a samll part the we normally use to attach the camera to a tripod......it works well and once you screw in the knob it fixes the problem...I couldn´t fin a new door or fix the litlle thing ...but once I use the part that only cost 4 dollars the problem was solved the batteries remain inside and it doesn´t affect the look or the volume of the camera.

Viewing photos on the computer via a usb cable

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.
