Antenna does act as ground, just not the best way to do it. Use the 6mm bolt hole in the rear of the chassis for a mounting strap, run a wire from there to the factory (vehicle) radio harness ground.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Why did I lose power to Pioneer car cd player DEH-P3900MP ?

Most likely, you blew a fuse(there are two, one to the battery, generally a yellow wire, and one to switched 12 volts, a red wire), or lost your ground connection. Anything besides that is going to required a audio technician.

Ground wire

if there is no black wire on the back (make sure it hasn't been cut off flush with the case), the the unit ground out through the case itself.

Cant display time

Upper right-hand corner, there's a button next to the "eject" button. Pressing this button while the unit is on will cycle between displaying the clock and the track number & play time (CD) or clock & radio station.
When the unit is off, you can press the same button to completely shut off the display, which is sometimes nice if you don't want the blue ring around the volume knob glaring in your face.

Player will not turn on

Power needs to be fed to 3 wires:
Yellow ; memory and main supply feed
Red: Accesories supply (comes in via ignition switch)
Black: Ground.
Did you forget either the yellow or red?
