Yesterday my fryer started shooting flames out of the fryer. What is the problem?

Check for loose or broken gas line connectors, including the pilot line. Check for blockage in the flue in the back of the fryer. Things occasionally fall down there and people with the bad habit of banging the fry baskets on the top of the flue will eventually clog it up with food particles and carbonized grease. Check for a defective gas pressure regulator, which can cause excessive gas pressure getting to the burners. Check to see if the burners are properly in position and that the holes in the burner are not blocked by soot or grease.

You may be able to check these things by having one person very carefully open the main gas shutoff just enough to for a second person to try to light the fryer. Before attempting to light the fryer listen and smell for escaping gas. If the fryer lights, observe the fryer while the first person very gradually opens the valve further. This can be hazardous, and the person observing should stay well back and the person on the main gas valve should be ready to close the valve.

Personally, if the problem is not obvious, like a loose of broken gas line or a blocked flue, I would leave further testing to a qualified service provider.

Deep fryer pilot light switches off automatically

First make sure that the thermocouple tube is directly in the pilot light flame. If it is, then the thermocouple is defective.

The pilot is on but the switch won't turn the fryer on. The gas is on but it just wont fire up? Dean Fryer

I can tell you from my own experience with fryers, that they take quite some time to heat up....before lighting.... The probe takes some time to get hot, before it will kick on and light. You normally have to hold the light button on for some time, before the manual fryers will light. I have helped many a customer who cannot seem to get their manual gas fryers to light, and normally it's because they don't hold the light button down long enough. The sensor in there takes alittle time to heat up and it tells the fryer it's time to light. I think people get alittle scaried with gas and just don't hold it down long enough. Try holding that button in longer first, then light it... It should work. If not, call us and we'll try to walk you through it.... Our service tech is Ray, and I'm Susan with Restaurant Equipment Outlet, Cincinnati, Ohio, 888-542-5959. Thanks and good luck, Susan

I have the AF45 fryer. I cannot light the pilot on this fryer. I have tried all possible solutions to this but still wont work.

Normally, on manual gas fryers, people don't hold down the light pilot button long enough for the sensors to heat up, to tell the pilot to light.... That's our number one complaint, and number one service call, and it's almost always the same thing;..... Hold the button down much longer, then try to light it... If you still have trouble, call our service tech, Ray @ 888-542-5959, at Restaurant Equipment Outlet, Cincinnati, Ohio. Thanks, Susan REO

Fryer overflows often, turned thermostat down from 350 to approx 340 but food does not cook then. could the thermostat be bad? 10 degrees should not make that much difference.

Does the fryer have a" temperature reached light"? If so switch the fryer on and with the thermostat dial starting at its lowest setting increase the temperature setting in small increments. When the light indicates temperature reached, increase the thermostat dial temperature. Continue until maximum temperature reached.

If (starting from cold) the temerature reached light only shows when high up on the thermostats temperature scale, then unfortunately the thermostat needs replacing.

Hope this helps.

Fryer wont fire up

Check the continuity, flip the switch on and off using an ohmmeter, if the switch is ok, check the thermal fuse inside.(you have to open the unit) replace whatever is defective

on that cecilware fryer there is a regulator to the right of the pilot light unsrew the aluminum cap and take off cap then you will see a white plastic screw turn that screw clockwise until it stops this will give the fryer more gas this could be your problem the regulator is silver and inline with the gas pipe comming from the back
