Yes you are absolutely correct that the defrost control is faulty.
you will get the required part at
the cost of the part will be near to $55.
but before ordering the new part try this
unplug the unit from main power outlet for complete 48 hours.then clean the melted water from the unit and plug the wire again and adjust the tempature and check out after two hours.
because many a times this happens because at the back of the freezer section there is evaporater coils.if the over excess of ice gets collected there then also defrost controller stops working.and this happens.
but if unplugging the unit does not helps then you can definately go for the defrost controll part
at repair clinic site.
