Vaccuum picks up dirt going forward, but drops dirt when going backwards?

If it is an upright, check for a clog somewhere in the line leading to the canister. Also, the clog may be at the top of the canister.

Do my Dirt Devil have a restart button it just stop running

Hi! No the vacuum doesn't have a restart button, but it does have a thermal protector that will shut the vacuum down when it is overheated. If your dirt cup was too full this will activate the thermal protector sensor. Clogs and dirty filters can cause this as well. We recommend emptying the dirt cup, tapping out the filter and checking the hose for clogs. The vacuum will come back on usually within 45 minutes to an hour. Hope this helps. I have a Dirt Devil M130000 I Dual, which just shut off.

yOU MIGHT TRY LOOKING DEEP INTO THE DEVIL PAST THE CANISTER INTAKE AS THIS IS WHERE THEY CAN GET A HUGE CLOG THAT YOU CAN'T SE UNLESS YOU STICK YOUR HAND WAY IN THE UBE. DO THID WITH THE DEVIL TURNED OFF. CHECK FOR A SHORT IN THE CORD AS WELL BE SAFE FIRST.

Kenmore 26082 Canister Vacuum Shuts off constantly. When Im vaccuuming maybe about 5 minutes later it shuts off. Then give it a few minutes later it turns back on. Whats the problem with this vaccuum

You could have a clog in the hose. Also check your filters, if you haven't changed them in a while, that could be what's suffocating your motor

Burning smell and not picking up dirt

You probably need to change the belt. Here is a link to the belt you need and to the manual:

Hose is not getting any suction

when vacuums shut off randomly it usually means they are overheating. this can be caused by a clog somewhere in the line of suction, or, perhaps due to a very dirty filter - either way, the motor is working hard and getting too hot.

try removing all the various tubes and parts along the suction route and checking for clogs (a flashlight might help too). also, have you rinsed out your two pre-filters lately as recommended in the Dyson manual? it might help.

Vaccuum forms in hose- will not pick up dirt

Check your wand for a clog. The DC17 line has common clog issues in its wand. It may be difficult to remove but if you have a long skinny pole(like one for curtains) you can use that to remove the clog.

Not picking up dirt.

There is a Clog in the machine...
Somewhere between the motor and the bag.
When you use the machine, the dirt picked up by the roller has no place to go but backwards.
You will need to disassemble it and look for the clog.

Dust blowing out of my vaccuum cleaner

Usually when dust is blowing out it is caused by a clog, either the hose, or the dirt inlet down by the brush roll is clogged. Check them and clean them out and you should be ok.
