Re: psp distortion

HI Alici,

This can be repaired, however, it will require a purchase of a new LCD screen, and possibly a new shell. I repair this kind of thing at my home.  I run the Playstation Clinic and charge reasonable prices to repair Video game consoles and DVD players.  All together I can replace both the LCD and face cover including return shipping will be $80.  This repair should only be done by a experienced Repair service.  Even knowledgeable repair people that have never disassembled a PSP can damage the psp so badly it will require the replacement of the motherboard as well, if not done properly.  The motherboard costs about $100.  If your willing to get it repaired you can contact me at  We specialize in PSP repairs.  90 day warranty! The price above is only adding $25 Labor for up to 3 hours of work. Shipping will be about $5.  The LCD screen is about $30, and the cover is about $20. So your Repair would be either $60 or $80 depending on what parts are needed.

Keeps turning off

Hi mccuad,

You might be thinking why your PSP always turning off when it is being used. It may just be that you're accidentally moving the power so slight. There are several options on how to diagnose what is causing the problem. One of them is trying to observe the behavior of your PSP when being played. I recommend trying the following steps to detect the issue of your PSP.

1. Try checking the battery if it is in place correctly. Make sure that the cover over the battery is pushed in properly.

2. Please determine if the battery has ran out or you can just put another battery on it.

3. Please check if you're not pressing the power switch accidentally. Make sure that you're not holding the power button up while you play.

4. Scan your PSP for possible viruses.

5. Ensure that the game is functioning properly.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

No image on screen

The GPU on your unit is overheating and you are getting artifacts.

The unit needs to be repaired. Try contacting Microsoft and see if they will fix the unit.

Psp makes stuck key keyboard sound

i really dont think thats a problem unless it REALLY effecys you. it also might just be the default sound settings on the psp. or the speakers of the psp could be messed up. t unless the sound of games is distorted then i think you will be fine unless the keyboard just doesnt type.

Playstation 3 distorted picture when turned on

I had the same problem (see above) and was able to fix it. The solution my be an S-video plug. I went to Wal-Mart and picked up a universal component S-A/V cable ("universal" in that you can use it for PS2, PS3, XBOX 360, Elite & Wii consoles).

At first, I used only the audio and video plugs and the picture still appeared distorted. Then I plugged the S-cable in (to the TV) and the picture displayed crystal clear!

Keep in mind, I never had to use an S-cable with my PS3 before. It worked fine without it from day one. I also can't blame the firmware update because I did the firware update AFTER I noticed the distorted picture. Previous to that, I had done every other firmware update with no problems. I know it's not the TV because I tried on four different televions and the result was the same -- so I'm left scratching my head, but at least the picture is clear.

For those wondering, the cables I bought were Phillips S-AV cable. It comes in a white box and is 8 feet long. The price was about $20. Sony offeres component A/V cables for more than double the cost, but chances are, those cables would have been useless to me since they did not include an S-video plug.

Your PS2 is definitely broken. Either send it in to Sony to be repaired or buy a new PS3. Bummer. Sorry to hear about this.

PSP suddenly has vertical lines no image

For your first PSP: there is a loose conection of LCD Screen with the motherboard and the solution is as follow: You can open the PSP and just lift the LCD Screen up be sure before lifting LCD Screen one thin Switch panel of micro buttons Home,VOL,select etc, you have to remove this first then only it is possible to lift the LCD Screen and after that you check that broad connection strip which is fixed with the motherboard socket you remove it this strip and refixed it again, your problem should get solved if suppose your LCD Screen is not broken.
