Proper wiring for honeywell 6400 thermostat

I connected all wiring according ot the diagram. My question. I installed the red wire into the slot for R and left the jumper between R and Rc installed. Is this correct or not. My system will come on but switch from heat to cool in a few minutes even if I am in cool mode.
Need answer bad, hot a shell here in florida.

I have a similar issue. My old manual system had a Y, G, W2, and R wire and I matched them to the new programmable Honeywell 5-2 thermostat connections as Y, G, W and RC per the installation instructions (leaving the last Rh connection blank). The fan worked great, but when I used the "Cool" setting it blew out heat! Do I have a wire crossed?? My system is electric.

apparently who ever did the wiring installation did not use the Proper color coding when they did the install. Now you must trace the wiring to the appliance and wire accordingly.

I have a red and a white wire only. I am installing a honeywell thermastat rth111. The heater is an electric air forced one. Where do I connect the wires?

These are not enough for you to install this thermostat properly. You could try hooking red to R and white to W2/E, but an electric furnace requires 4 wires for modern thermostats to run properly. If there are more wires in the line then it's a fairly easy task for a technician to add proper connections in, if not a new thermostat wire will need to be put in place.

I need to replace an old Thermostat that just has 3 wires coloured Red, Blue and Yellow. The Honeywell THR830TUK Thermostat I have bought shows 5 wires on the diagram. I'm not sure which wire goes into...

The honeywell THR830TUK thermostat does not require a neutral as shown in the instructions.Connect the LIVE to terminal "1" and your YELLOW SIGNAL wire to terminal "3".
Connect your EARTH (if you have one) to the EARTH connection on the top left hand corner of the thermostat and blank off your NEUTRAL wire with a block connector. These instructions were supplied to me by Honeywell Customer Support.Hope this helps.

Just installed the honeywell thermostat. the ac turns on, but not the heat. what do we do?

Some of the thermostats from Honeywell require a jumper wire on the thermostat between the RC and the RH connection for the heating to operate. It is possible that your installation needs this jumper wire installed for the heating to work.Verify that this jumper wire is installed if your thermostat requires it. If it requires the jumper wire and you do not have one you can cut a small piece of existing wire on the connections to make a jumper wire. There are also some thermostats with a jumper switch for electric heat and gas heat...make sure that it is on the proper setting.

Installing thermostat - extra wire?

you have to go down to your furnace and follow the thermostat wire ...it connects to a terminal strip or fan centre...the color doesn;t really matter...installers mix and match all the time....look at the furnace wiring and mark it down...Red on "R"...Green on "Y" whatever it is...and connect it accordingly upstairs...if you only have 4 thermostat wires downstairs you will need a jumper wire between RH and RC...if you have 5 wires you will see 2 wires on "R" at the furnace.,...and connect either to RH and RC at the thermostat
