Get a bootable Install CD for whatever version of Windows and re-install windows from the CD drive. (Windows XP Home I imagine). If the laptop won;t boot from a CD you can alter the BIOS settings to allow it. If you don;t care about your documents, do a DESTRUCTIVE install which will wipe your Hard Disk.
Beware if you do a non-destructive install that if your problems originated from a virus it could still be on your Hard Disk.
If you need help with getting the BIOS settings changed lemme know.

- In the Bios there are a few menus, make sure you understand the controls which are listed at the bottom. go slowly.
one of them, in one of the 1st three menu items contains an entry labelled "Boot Sequence"
move the cursor onto this selection and make the sequence
1st boot device CDROM/DVD
2nd boot device Hard Drive/HDD 0
press esc to return to the main menu and select SAVE & EXIT
the machine will reboot itself.
Make sure the Vista disk is in and it will hopefully reboot from the dvd drive and offer you some install options
hope that helps
the main thing is that the machine is set to boot from the cd/dvd drive before it tries to boot from the hard drive.

I just purchased this model and for some reason I cannot connect to a network. I see the networks, I have 5 bar excellent signal but when i try to connect the message pops up:click for info on troubleshooting low wireless signal. I have another laptop which connects without a problem to the same network. Is there any way to fix it?
